If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. (James Madison)

"Young man, what we meant in going for those Redcoats was this: we always had governed ourselves and we always meant to. They didn't mean we should."
(Captain Levi Preston, of the Danvers militia, at age 91, remembering the day)

That it is an indispensable duty which we owe to God, our country, ourselves and posterity, by all lawful ways and means in our power to maintain, defend and preserve those civil and religious rights and liberties, for which many of our fathers fought, bled and died, and to hand them down entire to future generations.  Suffolk Resolves, September 9, 1774, attributed to Dr. Joseph Warren

Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains." - Patrick Henry

The American Constitution is remarkable for its simplicity; but can only suffice a people habitually correct in their actions, and would be utterly inadequate to the wants of a different nation.  Change the domestic habits of the Americans, their religious devotion, and their high respect for morality, and it will not be necessary to change a single letter in the Constitution in order to vary the whole form of their government. - Francis Grund 1837

"In the prevailing political theory of the founding era, the family was considered one of the essential pillars of republican virtue, and it not only needed to be nurtured, but also protected from the tyranny of the government.... American revolutionaries and their descendants understood marriage and the family to be schools of republican virtue. -Mary Lyndon Shanley, Review Essay, 27 Law & Soc. Inq. 923,

We had a outstanding week end at the Tok range with the Alaska Appelseed  personal ,learning  basic and advance rifle 4 position and sling use along with the history of the birth of our country that started on that long-ago April  morning. The Tok shooters would like to thank all the Appleseed instructors  that made this a great week end

Tok, Alaska! Wow! -83 in the winter, 100 above in the summer, latitude 63 N, longitude 148 west, 328 road miles through 4 (5?) mountain ranges from Anchorage, 1,323 miles up the Alaska Highway from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada, 93 miles from the border.  Remote & Superlative!  The statistics do not even begin to hint at the superlative American Patriots that joined fisherdawg, eagleriver, RedBoston & Taka222 for what may be the most memorably Appleseed ever.  We be will back, it's already scheduled and on www.appleseedinfo.org and open for registration.  Saber, Pat, John, Mickey, Rhonda, Theresa and too many others that I'm leaving out are already hard at work on the 2015 Project Appleseed Alaska Statewide Rendezvous June 27-28, 2015.

To our shooters:
Alvin (persist, you'll be a Rifleman soon)
Barb (thanks for catching up on Sunday)
Marett (knocking on the door with a boltie!)
Juan (stick with it! apply the fundamantals --the sky is the limit)
Geordie (you got an quick introduction Sunday afternoon - please come for both days next year)
Rick (Amazing sharpshooter -- soon to be a Rifleman -- hope to see you soon)
Madison (your off hand is excellent, keep applying the fundamentals)
Hazel ( keep at, you can beat those brothers!)
Huck (Rifleman, reenactor, thanks!! Banjo Player extraordinaire!)
Ally (Apply those fundamentals, I have a Rifleman patch you can earn)
Shelby (you did the one essential thing to be a great at anything -- you didn't quit)
Bryan (your standing groups are good enough, work on seated/kneeling & prone)
Joel (trust your NPOA, fire in cadence, all 6 steps every shot especially follow through)
Nathan (ditto)
Daniel (ditto)
Mark (ditto)
Heather (I think you can get the Patch even before your boys do!)
Destiny (you weren't too sure at first, but you stuck with it -- attagirl)
Charity (I hope we see you again next year -- you can do it)
Erica (Rifleman/Riflewoman you exemplify Lord Percy's comment -- you know very well what you are about -- shooting the score with a boltie at your first event.  Well, I've never seen that before.  I look forward to working with you on Project Appleseed.  Thank you for 'taking the Orange hat')
Mike (Rifleman, indeed you know very well what you are about! I hope to see you on the line soon)
Ms. 'D' (you hung in through multiple frustrations -- persistance is the essential quality and you showed it in heaps.  I hope you'll be back)
Paul ( a bit of fine tuning and some dry fire practice and Taka222 will be handing you a Rifleman's patch)

As for our Hosts -- they did a Copper River Red Salmon Bake for us Saturday evening!  You don't get that everyday! And barbequed hamburgers, hotdogs with all the fixings and homemade desserts for lunch on both Saturday and Sunday. Wow.
Thank you Theresa and all who contributed!
And Theresa, thank you for quietly insisting that Chris and I go see Alaska Sweet Grass.  That was the topper.  Those 2 musicians of yours stole my heart for that hour. :)
Thank you Pat & John for all your work and the support of Tok Shooters Assn. for Project Appleseed.
Thank you Mickey, without your steady, calm and excellent assistance on the line, our instruction would have been lesser, for sure.  It was was my pleasure to get to know you a bit.  Hope to see you next year.
Saber & Rhonda --Wow!, Wow!! Wow!!!  The honor is mine, thank you for all you did to get us there! Thank you for having the vision. O0
And it was an honor to meet Kaya.
Next year is scheduled, we'll be back, there'll be more of us and more shooters too.  We've started something good that's going to grow.
Very best regards & Yours for Liberty

If it's not obvious, this was indeed the furthest North Appleseed shoot ever!
"Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters." —Frederick Douglass
