What do you get when you combine beautiful weather, rifles, 11 Americans, a bunch of Appleseed Instructors, a flint lock black powder rifle, and April 19th?

That's right...one of the BEST ways to spend the weekend in the whole world.  PATRIOT'S DAY APPLESEED!!!!

We had an amazing group of Americans out to celebrate Patriot's Day weekend.

Beginning with some news headlines on the comings and goings of the troops, the tone was set for the day.

Safety briefing, then we turned on the fire hose.  Shooters turned in to sponges and soaked up the information we shared with them.  It was very nice to hear some centerfires on the line with the rimfires.  All were ready to learn.  :---

We stopped for lunch, updated the headlines and shared the strikes to a great audience.

Headed back to the line and got ready to participate in the Volley commemorating those who fell in battle that day.  13 rounds.

After the Volley, we were treated to a special demonstration by Michael Bush, a period flint lock black powder rifle similar to what was used by the colonists.  It was great to see!  Neve even got to fire it...grins all around for that. Thank you Mike!!!   ^:)^

Back to the teaching and the sponges continued to soak up knowledge.  We were able to get in 2 AQT's before the final Red Coat of the day.

Sunday was another wonderful day.  Easter Sunday.  9 folks returned to enjoy some more teaching and more history.

Review of the information from the day before and fine tuning .

We stopped for lunch and the individual stories that remind us one person, man, woman or child can make a difference.

Back to the firing line and some AQT's...and well what would a shoot on Easter be without shooting some Easter eggs....?  Chalk Easter eggs...they make a wonderful  POOF when one hits them!!!   :---

AQT's and our first and only Rifleman of the weekend.....returning for his second Appleseed, Jules posted a beautiful 238!!!!!!

A final Red Coat and the weekend came to an end.

Wonderful job to all the shooters...Keep practicing and I hope to see you on the line again.  Also, thank you very much for helping us tear down and clean up.  Many hands do indeed make light work.

To my instructors:  THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK.  I couldn't do this without your amazing assistance.

If you wish to send a message to any of the instructors from the weekend:

scoutcamper

Thanks Missy! I am looking forward to my first instruction opportunity this weekend at hat creek :)

Ducky

I also wanted to chime in here with a welcome to Matt (Scoutcamper)!! We look forward to working with you, and know you'll fit right in with us! (That's a compliment... :cool2: )

To all the shooters who attended this last weekend, thank you so much again for coming out and participating. I enjoyed working with you, and was thrilled to see your progress. Jules, I hope you decide to join our instructor corps, now that you've attended two Appleseeds and achieved (an impressive) Rifleman's score! You would be an asset to our "family of instructors," and we promise to make you feel welcome.

I took a SLEW of pictures, and intended to have them posted here by now...I will get them up as soon as I can. Walter will be working on our video, which should be up by next week at the latest. Please check back, as you might want to save the video as a souvenir.  O0

Best to you all!

Freedom, in a political context, means freedom from government coercion. It does not mean freedom from the landlord, or freedom from the employer, or freedom from the laws of nature which do not provide men with automatic prosperity. It means freedom from the coercive power of the state, and nothing else.--Ayn Rand
