This weekend in Southern California, our Sunland range saw 16 brave souls hungry for marksmanship instruction and stories of our shared history!

A very special thank you to Alex H, an Eagle Scout - who brought 8 Scouts with him for an Appleseed Saturday experience. All held on strong, soaked up all that we threw at them - and we really hope to see them again in the very near future. Alex, Cartney, Sebastian, Brandon, Cameron, Trevor and the rest. You are all welcome any time. Please come again.

This weekend saw father / son duo Obi & Gabe arrive on the lines. Sure, we had some technical difficulties - but they stayed right through the weekend and persisted (as Riflemen do...) and showed vast improvement.

Chuck! What a pleasure to teach! Enthusiasm is oh, so important! Seems lacking sometimes in the world we live in... So many times he'd say, "I think I'm going to sit this one out" or "I might have to leave at lunch"... Stayed right through! Scores in the upper 180's... You're definitely on the right track!

John (Sat only), was our LEO guest this weekend. Showed great focus and grabbed a patch! Way to go, man!

Dustin! T-R-O-O-P-E-R!-!-! This guy spent the entire weekend just banging away on his M1A, never losing focus or determination. Just a sponge. Please keep at this and please visit us again. We'll get you over the hump for sure!

Alex F was our returnee this weekend from a recent shoot locally in Piru. With his 5.56 carbine he was cracking good shots all weekend... Staying right in tune, BLAMMO a qualifying score for a RM patch AND took an Orange Hat! Thanks for stepping up, man! Thank you!

Friend of Alex F, was Rebecca... who was only able to attend the Sunday portion of our weekend as a first time shooter. She was spotted taking notes all day and it apparently seemed to work! With the Redcoat's getting the best of her first thing in the morning, she was a 30-cal rule away from CLEARING her afternoon adversary's by end-of-day!

And then there's Chris & Veronica... Husband & Wife... They came to us with zilch... I think I remember a few of us helping take their .22's out of the box around this time last year. 9-shoots is definitely an example of determination and persistence. They came with a plan. They came with a goal. They BOTH SCORED RIFLEMAN THIS WEEKEND!!! THEY BOTH TOOK ORANGE HATS!!! WECOME TO THE FOLD!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!

Stories were shared, history was discovered, & seemingly ancient words were quoted with accuracy and debated as to if they were relevant in modern times. It's important to know where you come from. Every day spent is where you will be coming from upon tomorrow. It was a well-spent weekend.

4 Riflemen, 3 new Orange Hat Instructors In Training.

Thank you to V, MrB, Camljr, Gratefuldog & Ventura-Steve for allowing me to pleasure of spending the weekend with you. To all of our students this weekend... YOUR PREPARATION PERIOD BEGINS NOW!!!!

It was wonderful to see so many shooters on the line both young and old getting a taste of pure Americana!!! Braving the winds and not getting despondent with the multiple times we had to repair the targets , the shooters took it all in their strides and enjoyed it immensely. It's amazing what we can overcome through persistence and dedication and you all should be proud if yourselves for the vast improvement shown throughout the weekend.
Congrats to those who succeeded in achieving their scores especially Chris and Ronnie who we've seen time and time again unendingly pursuing their goal of scoring rifleman and for taking a hat. Your persistence will serve as a great example to this program and I look forward to working with you.
To the other shooters
Please keep at it and help promote this wonderful tradition so we can continue to have more wonderful shoots like this.

Wow!  What can we say?!  A heart felt thankyou to all the Appleseed Instructors who have been with us on our journey to acquiring Rifleman Patches: Johnny, Steve, Cameron,  Brian, Pete, Bob, Phil (and others we only met once).  We have been so greatful for all of the patience shown to (and shared with) us.

As well we are honored to take Orange Hats in the hope that we can repay at least a portion of what we have received from Appleseed!  Thanks for awakening the inner patriot.

Let's finish the "rock wall!"
