What happens when you mix great 60F winter weather, sunshine, a P-51 flying around, and motivated shooters?

A great weekend.  This was really a bit of a surprise showing for December.  Usually, we can expect gusting wind and rain, making for fun in the mud, but what great weather we had.  24 shooters arrived on both days and the red coat scores showed some great improvement on Saturday.  Sunday, the time on the Red Coat was cut short by the 3:40 last shot call by the range's winter hours and the shooters desire to squeeze in another AQT.  What a great bunch of shooters!

Most of the shooters were new to Appleseed, which is really encouraging.  I hope to see them all come back and make Rifleman.  We had 7 youth shooters, several 30 cal shooters, two returning Appleseeders, 1 military shooter, and an instructor spending quality time with a new scope.

We had no Riflemen this time around, however, Rob managed to clear the red coat target twice.  A troublesome Ruger was frustrating his efforts.  Unfortunately, we ran out of loaners.

The history included the 3 strikes, Samuel Whittemore, Prudence Wright, Hezekiah Wyman, David Lamson, Mother Batherick, Betty Zane, and Captain Levi Preston, with some Sam Adams, Hugh Percy, and John Adams mixed in at times.

We did have several shots fired after the first "C" in Cease Fire, which seemed out of character with such a safe group in the transitions stages.

We may have the makings of a new blue hat, but will have to wait and see...

Please come out again soon.  I missed all the fun and would love to meet all the folks that were there!

Sorry I'm posting a little late in the game here. Just wanted to say this truly was a stellar group--all with Rifleman potential. How can I say that, you ask?? I saw lots of attentiveness, focus, persistence, active learning, careful application of the steady hold factors, intelligent responses during our instruction and reviews, and huge improvements on the targets!  :cool2: Keep up the good work, and you will get there.

I want to give a little "shout-out" to the 8-year old Designated Monster Sniper I was working with--a young man named Ty, who came to us on Saturday with his uncle, never having shot a rifle before. He learned the safety rules so well that on Sunday, I could hear him reciting them all, word-for-word, when we were doing the review! He was careful with his rifle, and enjoyed learning all the terms and basic skills. I was so impressed with how well he took to our instruction and did what we taught him to do! And it was fun for me to see how he felt the satisfaction of learning how to "put the pumpkin on the post" and watch as his shots landed on his Monster target! ^:)^  What an appreciative and happy young man he was, after he finished his weekend with us. That just filled my heart!

Also, a huge thank you to my fellow Appleseed instructors, and congratulations to Pinbreaker on a shoot well-run!! I learn so much from all of you, and admire your commitment.

I look forward to seeing you all back out at the range sometime soon! Till then, take good care.

You did a fabulous job working with him, Ducky! I know his uncle was very grateful for it.
