Project Appleseed

In a twelve story building in Manhattan's hub
In a low-ceilinged basement beneath a strip club
Once a month of a Saturday evening they meet
To hear stories an shoot targets at 50 feet.

From Brooklyn and Queens and Manhattan of course
From Upstate and Jersey and Long Island's shores
There's twelve all together some boys and some girls
Even Asia and Africa, Eastern Europe...  The World.

They know they're outnumbered but they know what to do.
They look to the past and remake it anew.
The Constitution's as valid as it was then.
Human nature's the same as it always has been.
Founding Fathers taught us what we still need to teach.
What's different today is the scale of it's reach.
It's no longer the shoreline of one strange land mass
A small group of colonists trying to pass
As Independents the world should need recognize,
And it's not just a matter of this one country's size.

For why did they come here, your grandparents and mine?
The English and Mexicans, Germans and Thais?
It's happened over 400 years give or take,
Ever with Liberty always at stake.

And this is the place.
Lose it here, there's no trace.
It's the last place in the world anybody calls free.
Everybody knows that, but what does it mean?
There's Religion and Speech, but it's easy to see
Self-defense is the first Natural Right of the Free.

That's why Manhattan represents Appleseed!
