10/22 Takedown and Tech Sights?

Hi all,

I just picked up a stainless Ruger 10/22 Takedown today, looking to add some Tech Sights to it to take with me to an Appleseed in a couple weeks. I've seen some vague discussion on the topic on here, but not much concrete.

The question is: does the 10/22 takedown regularly and repeatably hold zero with repeated assembly and disassembly?

Yes, absolutely, positively.   O0

Have had one since they first came out, with tech-sights. It has proven itself a fully capable tool for many rifleman scores.

We recently got a 10-22 breakdown, and it consistently held under eight MOA with stock sights(which I'm not very good with, so a lot of that was probably me). We did take it apart several times, but I forget if we shot afterwards or not. :wb:

The stock sights should hold zero fine, since they're on the barrel. I was concerned about the Tech Sights because the rear sight is mounted on the receiver and separates from the front sight, introducing the possibility of a difference in sight alignment with reassembly. Sounds promising?

I've seen plenty of fine work done with a 10/22 takedown fitted with Tech-sights.  No worries.   O0

Awesome, thanks!

Unfortunately I found out today I'll be having surgery and will miss the upcoming shoot. Guess I'll have to go for one later on then....

Next question regarding the 10/22 Takedown:

Where/how did you mount the sling swivel studs?

Haven't figured out the rear/stock mount yet, but this so far seems to do well: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/594849/promag-barrel-band-with-picatinny-rails-ruger-10-22

Where is always 1 inch forward of where you want your support hand in prone.

I haven't tried it on a takedown but on  other plastic stocks I use the wood screw stud, drill 1 size under insert the stud, remove stud, insert epoxy and reinsert stud.

I used this tutorial when I installed sling studs on my takedown.
