Can anyone recommend a good book to familiarize a new owner to the operation and maintenance of the M1 Garand?

It will get you started,  do a goggle search as well,, there is all kinds of info out there on the Garand,,,

Get a copy of FM 23-5. You can download a copy from http://www.biggerhammer.net/manuals/garand/m1.htm
