Shoot Boss was crazy busy in weeks prior to shoot.  Said shoot boss realized too late that he did not get Red Hat embroidered.  Said shoot boos panicked and on the fly came up with multiple excuses, each more lame than the previous.

Redemption was sought (and hopefully received) by letting Oz rip a belt of 30 caliber bullets with a Browning M1919A4 into his orange hat after it had been thoroughly dispatched by eager shooters on the line.

Oz also had made a special request of wanting as many of the main battle rifles of our Armed Forces since the Revolutionary War to fire into his hat for our "mad minute (and a half).  In addition to a dozen .22LR rifles, we were able to muster a Brown Bess, M1873 Springfield Trapdoor, M1898 Krag, M1917 Eddystone, M1 Garand, M1A/M14, AR15/M16, M4.  We missed the Mexican American and Civil Wars...maybe next time.

I still own him an embroidery job...

I wish I knew exactly what kind of aura I need to project such that people would preemptively attempt to assuage my potential fury by offering up belts of .30 cal even before I have the opportunity to take umbrage.  On the other hand, it's probably best I not know--I could work up a lot of potential fury if it were regularly so rewarded and I might not be fit to be around!   >:D

What can I say?  I am in ST2's debt for literally chasing me down off the street to get me to my first shoot, and to Zazzles for insisting by mid-afternoon on our first shoot "Dad, we need to volunteer!" (and who took a blue hat before I had my OH.)  It's hard to say no to Posterity, present and insistent in person.  And I am grateful to a host of you in funny colored hats for teaching me how to bail and encouraging me.  Thank you for all the helping hands--I will do my best to pay it forward.

You're the best people on the planet and I look forward to working with you and our shooters every time.   :bow:

And the decommissioning was absolutely awesome.   -:)  Any more pics of that out there--don't keep them to yourself, let's see them!

the two shoot's i've been at he was a great help and a great instructor, he earned it! thank you to all the instructors and helpers. i can't wait to go to the next event, next time i won't squeak by
