MIGHTY MOUSE

I had the honor and pleasure of being the shoot boss for the Nephi, Utah shoot.  First of all for a
"Flat Lander" from Kentucky the snow covered 12,000 foot mountain as a backdrop for this public range made quite an impression on me as well as the 30 MPH wind and dust that blew in from 200 miles away! Saturday we had 33 shooters (sorry FF and Fred, I cant count!).  We had Risky Bussiness, Newman, Smiley_dan as an instructors and Bravo as an IIT.  Saturday we had to contend with some wind that tried its best to destroy our target line but along with a couple of rolls of duct tape and bailing wire we pesisted.  All of our shooters demonstrated consistant improvement through out the day and just missed the magic rifleman number.  We had a small group return on sunday to battle the wind and colder temps but we did a quick review of the positions, 6 steps, NPOA and proceed to start the AQT grind and and managed to forge 2 riflemen on the anvil of the AQT with several not far behind. In fact I think just about everyone double their AQT score from the first one of the morning on our last Rapidfire AQT.  This was my first event to be shootboss and I had a blast thanks to a good crew of  freshly minted instructors and an even better group of shooters that made for an awesome and memorable shoot. (I liked Nephi so much I stayed an extra night)  I would also like to thank the whole "buttshot camanche" clan for showing up and hosting such a good appleseed. It wsa hard to tell sometimes if I was at a family reunion or an Appleseed  ;)   I think a seed was planted in Nephi and I have a feeling this wont be the last Nephi shoot.

Bravo

MM, I'm hoping we don't have that kind of weather next month!

Man, that was interesting........

But it was great meeting you, Newman and Dan. Always good to see old friends again too!

Fred

Dan was in Grandfield, OK the weekend before, so the wind shouldn't have been a problem for him. ;)

But wind is a definite factor in shooting well, and it's even more impressive that those riflemen were able to persist and overcome in the face of wind moving their muzzles around. 8)

That is a pretty good turnout at this shoot. Thanks, Buttshot! (Ask him sometime how he got his screen name; rumors suggest he was messing with the wrong Comanche's woman! ;D ;D)

And thanks to all that came! And hope we can have another one there, soon. How about July 4th, with an optional third day - so no one has an excuse for not making rifleman?

     PS: Great job, Drew!

Now, Fred, the origin of the name was going to be our secret.

We had a great time at the shoot and learned a lot.   Met some fantastic Patriots and spread the Rifleman idea to quite a few.    There were many who had scheduling conflicts, so the next one ought to be better.   We were working for a turnout of 40+, but, this time, we will have to be satisfied with what is.

Risky Business let me shoot his pristine Garand.    I had forgotten what a joy it is to shoot a real rifle.    I cut my eyeteeth on a Garand in 56.   Man, I have got to get me one of those!    Not that I don't have some real rifles, but that was a GARAND!     Thanks, Risky, I owe you!

We have no dates yet, but we are planning another shoot in June/July and another in early September.   Don't want to get run over with all of those deer hunters.   Independence Day is out though, we have a long standing Family Reunion on those days.

Our thanks go to all of those who made the shoot a success, especially those who traveled and served as Shoot Boss & instructors.      We bless you all for your dedication to Freedom and for making this program possible for us.     There is a groundswell of Freedom sweeping this nation.   It is a privilege to be associated with it.

God Bless America,

Will  (BC or Buttshot Comanche)
