I'm too tired for a good report now but perhaps others can chime in before I can get back to this. It was a wonderful and productive weekend. New RHs, OHs, and a BH. Two Riflemen.

And get this! One of the shooters, a musket expert, brought a Brown Bess, a musket rifle, AND a PATRICK FERGUSON RIFLE, along with a most interesting presentation and discussion about them!!!!! If you are not familiar with the Ferguson Rifle, check it out in Paul Revere's Ride. They are unbelievably rare and expensive. This was almost a once in a lifetime opportunity. However, it may appear again this summer.  ^:)^  ^:)^  ^:)^
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add "within the limits of the law" because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.  Thomas Jefferson

We had a great AS weekend.  The weather was "misty" for most of the weekend but overall pleasant and thanks to our host range we were covered and comfortable...many thanks to the "Egyptians" for their hospitality.  We had many returning shooters and a couple of 1st timers...in addition to the riflemen mentioned in Don's post we have three (3) aspiring riflemen who will undoubtedly patch their next time out...if memory serves they all missed patching by only 4 or 5 points.

The gun show put on by one of the participants was amazing.  I did not know what a Ferguson was until yesterday and being that close to such a rare piece of history was a treat indeed.

Thanks to Steck for bringing her beautifully stocked Garand and allowing us to handle and shoot it.  It was many of our first times on a Garand and that was a treat also.

It was a great crew, a great group of aspiring riflemen and a lot of learning and waking up took place.  Looking forward to the next one in Sparta IL June 29/30.

Steck

Marion had a very quiet, industrious group of shooters who did their talking at the line.

SOOO many folks came close to earning their patches... you're all going to be at Sparta in June, right?    ~~:)

Imagine scoring a 210 with that Patrick Ferguson rifle!   ;)

LesMoore

It was a great weekend in Marion!  2 new red hats, and 2 new orange hats, 1 new Rifleman, 1 re-qualify, and several shooters so close to scoring 210 ^:)^ ^:)^  How does it get any better than that?

We had a great treat by getting to see the Patrick Ferguson rifle!!

Every shooter on the line made such improvement throughout the weekend.  I hope all of you return to another Appleseed in the future-I am confident each of you will earn that Rifleman patch...and maybe some will take an orange hat?

Hope to work with everyone again some time!

Wow! So many good things to say about this weekend! The phenomenal team I got to work with was absolutely the best. My thanks to DonD, LesMoore, RiflesNReins, EODTech256, Imadentist, Polar Bear, Steck, Pete!, OleFido, and my other team members. Your support and friendships make all the difference!

We had a standout group of shooters too! I couldn't be prouder of them all. Some on the verge of getting their Rifleman patches, others earning them, and still more re-qualifying. Outstanding!

I would like to personally thank our 2 newest Orange hats for stepping up this weekend. It was great to have you at the shoot. You have in your passion a Sacred Trust. Guard it well.

It was and continues to be my honor to have shared time with you. Thank you so very much. :)

I really enjoyed the weekend and working with everybody. Steck, you made me want a Garand even more. Thanks for letting me shoot it. Polar Bear, RNR, NavNuke, Imadentist, DrRichP, LesMoore, JP, Cianan, Pete, Ratboy: It was great to see and talk to old friends and make new ones. Also, one cannot say enough about our SB dond and the terrific Miss Sara. I am looking forward to October and hope the weather is drier. Congratulations to our new Rifleman and Orange Hat, Body Bags.

Absolutely a great Appleseed! Never before have I seen such a dramatic improvement over the course of an Appleseed. Imadentist your first Strike was awesome. Polar Bear, Imadentist, LesMoore, JP, Steck, Dr. RichP, Pete! and Olefido, thank you so much for making this Appleseed a real learning experience. To all of those who attended, keep up the hard work, some of you are on the verge of Rifleman. Congratulations Steck and Dr. RichP for becoming Red Hats. Thank you also Mr. D and Body Bag for stepping up and taking Orange Hats.
