Has anyone else had their CMP Garand order kicked back due to a delay in FBI the background check? Not a denial but because it was delayed for more than two weeks it was returned. I now have to start an inquiry as to why this happened. There is nothing in my background that would have cause this and I have purchased firearms withing the last 3 years. About the 60 day mark from my order date I get an envelope in the mail. Before I cry foul, I want to know if I am alone.

AFTERMATH

Never heard of this.

Though, I thought that if a check were to be delayed more than three days it becomes authorized by default...  Could be different with the CMP though...

My first ammo order was received with no issues which makes this all the more puzzling.

use your SSN on the personal info sheet , something on the sheet was similar to someone else that that didn't pass. Ammo orders are not back ground checked. There is a thread about this on the ask Orest section of the CMP forum. Good luck

Not sure if this is relevant, but last Wednesday I went over to Anniston and discovered that there were absolutely ZERO rack grade and ZERO field grade M1 Garands available.  All they had to sell were Special grade in both 30-06 and 308 @ $900+, and M1Cs and M1Ds.  Oh, forgot to mention that they had a bunch of demo M1s that were rendered inoperative due to welded in barrel/chamber plugs.

In my opinion it's looking pretty grim for the future at CMP .   :'(

Not looking grim at all.  Typical rush stampede on a limited number of items.

The CMP armorers can only produce so many rifles in a given period of time.  There are a finite number of these professionals working at a given rate of production.  Typically their rate of production exceeds demand (except at Camp Perry during the Nationals).

An event happens, everyone and their brother rushes out and buys everything in sight. It takes some time, AFTER demands return to normal and the racks will fill up again.

One night Johny Carson mentioned a toilet paper shortage on his show in the mid-70s (as a joke).  Guess what happened the next day?  It was not the doom of Charmin...

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as "bad luck."
