Has anyone have experience with DPMS 308 Oracle? I am look at getting the upper.

nothing with that model, but in general pencil barrels will deflect when they heat up and the POI will walk

I have one.  Reliability is good.  The weight isn't excessive for using offhand.  Accuracy is good, but as George says the POI can shift. I was able to use it for KD but I found my recorded data from one day was useless the next day.

As far as additional bits required, I needed to add a forward sling stud.  I got one that uses one of the holes in the hand guard and it works fine.  No cantilever or extended mounts needed for optics owing to the longer rail (compared to an AR15) on the A3 style upper.  That said, I am using a PEPR mount on mine and scope height is just about perfect.  I did have to shim the mount to get elevation within the limits of my scope, but I can't say if this was an issue with the mount or with the upper receiver.  I would hesitate to install irons, as the railed gas block on mine appears to be canted slightly.

"In 1775, to protect Liberty a man had to knock on his neighbor's door and ask "will you come die with me?"  In 2012, to protect Liberty a man has to knock on his neighbor's door and ask "will you come vote/attend a public meeting/work at a poll with me?"  Jason Russell, and men and women like him, are the reason have a easier task in 2012. The question is, are we up to it?" - YHJ

DPMS is stated to stand for Didn't Pass Mil Spec (as well as some saltier acronyms) on some other forums. CMMG is generally considered to be much higher quality, and they just released a few AR-10 models, which I would imagine come in upper half only.

Caveat: Just what I know about the general reputation of the company. Never had personal experience, but have done many, many, hours of research on black rifles.

Mind telling us what the intent is for this rifle/upper half?
