While we only had 6 shooters on Sat/Sunday they more than made up for things with the enthusiasm they showed. That and many other special things happened that weekend.

We had me, dragit, Reliable, Semi-Reliable, Alarmlist 76, and Scout to help run things. Plenty of instructors to students.

We had one Rifleman this weekend, Jed, who is also Reliable's grandson. After taking his patch he also took his Orange hat. It was Jeds' fourth shoot and he finally made it. Good going Jed. I know Reliable is proud of you.

Now Reliable had plenty to be proud of this weekend. In addition to Jed taking his patch/Orange hat, his other grandson, Semi-Reliable, got his Red Hat!!!  ;)

Now Semi-Reliable has been with AS for quite awhile and has been waiting for his 15th birthday to take his RH test. He passed with flying colors. Way to go Andrew. I'm proud of you and Reliable is too.

And if that isn't enough I finally got my youngest boy out to a shoot too!! He moved back in with us two weeks ago. I told him that I finally had him cornered. He was going to an AS if I had to drag him kicking and screaming. Just kidding. He's wanted to go for quite some time but now that he's back home I was able to make it happen. He did pretty good for his first shoot, 177 high score. Probably would have helped if I'd bought some good ammo but I have some old junk I needed to shoot up. Next time I'll bring the CCI or Champion.

And wait, that's not all!

The Texas Instructor core wanted to do something special for Andrew for getting his RH. This is something that has never been done before and will probably never be done again. But Andrew is a young man that gives people hope. Yup, we still have plenty of good kids in this country. So a few of the instructors pitched in for a Garand. Of course his father will have to hold it for him till he's old enough but it will be officially in his hands when he's 21.

We had another shooter, Dave, who came really close to getting his patch. He got a 201. He'll be back though. He's determined to get the coveted patch. He's a really nice guy too. Hope I'm there when he does get it.

Thanks also to Tom and Ginger, Shawn, Steven for coming out. See y'all next time.

Thanks Reliable for the ride. (and the hospitality too)

Yeah, Andrew is Almostreliable, although semi-reliable is true, too.  Please, Jed is NOT my grandson, but some hitchhiker we found (he's Andrew's friend).  Andrew is still floating over the Garand, and now I have to take him out to zero it this weekend.  Thanks everyone and we'll see you next month.

Thanks guys for this week end. i had lots of fun and will be shooting my granand(which do to the color of the stock I have named two-tone) any chance i get :---. I'd like to thank all the Texas instructors that pitched in to buy the rifle. I'm extremely happy to be part of the Texas instructor program. ^:)^ Thanks to all of you

Thank you to Marc, Bill, Larry, Andrew, Kirby and Michael for running this shoot.  Thanks to the shooters for listening to the history and absorbing the instruction.

Stargnoc to Andrew for the RH (and the peanut butter sandwiches I still have not cleared out of my mouth), and Jed for a 213 and an OH.  Now you two can practice instruction during those boring high school classes.  Look forward to harassing, uh, working with you in the future.

Andrew is still floating over the Garand...

Floating isn't a steady hold factor... :cool2:

Congrats Andrew!

Every since we got more shoots up North (and I've been to 2 in Arkansas in the last month ++)) I miss seeing my friends in Davilla. Gonna have to work a shoot down there before years end ;)

Thanks for the props Scuzzy....really enjoyed the weekend weather changes and all....I WILL get rifleman with my M1-A before I attempt to qualify with a lesser caliber....just mean I've got to get up there sooner....

Jed & Andrew truly give me hope that someone will inherit this country and bring honor and justice with them...can't wait for my kids to grow up so I can bring them to an AS too....

Good weekend, great people, awesome hospitality, and a worthy cause for a wonderful tradition.
Never forget, even for an instant, that the one and only reason anybody has for taking your gun away is to make you weaker than he is, so he can do something to you that you wouldn't let him do if you were equipped to prevent it. This goes for burglars, and rapists, and even more so for politicians.

Just because you're not out looking for a fight doesn't mean a fight isn't out looking for you.

Just  a note to let you know that Andrew & Jed will not attend the October shoot, but will be back for November.  They have some kind of school band competition in October.  You'll still be stuck with me though.  Larry

Lookin' good in Red, Andrew! I know you've worked hard to get it, and you definitely deserve it.
Larry, you've got to be one proud Grandpa.  ^:)^

Jed, congratulations on your patch and for already taking the next step down the Rifleman trail. Look forward to meeting and working with you in the future.
