10/22 aftermarket sling attachment points?

I have a 10/22 "carbine", which means plastic stock and no sling attachment points.

How well do the screw-in type of aftermarket attachment points work?  I'm expecting my stock is mostly hollow, so I'm wondering whether there's really anything for it to screw into.  Or failing that, how, (aside from tying it around the barrel), I might attach a sling.

Suggestions?

Since the synthetic stock isn't strong enough to keep screw-type studs in you can find the nut type and drill through the stock.  You'll have to remove the stock from the rest of the rifle and drill the forearm where you want it (usually 1-2" from the end).  Drill all the way through with a drill bit the size of the stud shank and then on the inside (where the barrel sits) drive a very shallow hole as deep as the nut is thick.  The butt of the stock can be access by removing the butt pad, it's tight in there but doable.

You can get more info on Rimfire Central, here's a link with someone doing pretty much the same ting with a Tapco stock.

I put screw in studs on a plastic stocked 10/22 and they have worked fine now through three Appleseeds.

If you're paranoid, a very small amount of PL400 (or similar)  construction adhesive on the screw threads   will make it       _permanent_        You could use that stuff to glue 2 jellyfish together.

I usually over engineer things ++), so you might want to go with the screw-in type and some adhesive.

I also have the carbine 10/22 (though I have the wood stock). I used the barrel band sling attachment from Uncle Mikes for the front and the standard screw in rear. This set up has worked well for me.
