My tech sights just came in! :)

I have a used 10/22 that came with this already attached:

How does one remove it?  I googled and find references to a 'set screw'.  What is that?

thanks!

Should be a small capless allen head screw on the bottom of the brake that you can loosen and then pull it off.

hmm.. right below the muzzle brake...i do see threads.  So i think the 'screw' fell off.  In any case, it's no longer there.  I can see the bottom of the barrel.  Do i just lightly tap the brake out?

vujade

that's awesome!  I just gently tapped it and it's off!  thank you for leading me in the right place.

tech sights are in.  wow, the rifle is so much lighter.  It suddenly feels 'free from the bondage of a scope'.

Too bad I can't take the scope off my Garand for the same effect!
It is certain, I think, that the best government is the one that governs least. But there is a much-neglected corollary: the best citizen is the one who least needs governing. The answer to big government is not private freedom, but private responsibility.
