Francis Marion

28 men, women and kids met to shoot and learn, to improve rifle skill.

The sun did its best to dry us all out; some shooters succombed to the heat and left, but most persisted.

A sixty foot-long firing line held 17 shooters at a time.  Instruction and knowledge flowed smoothly from Joseph, Marcus, Jamie, and Justin.   Shooters practiced a martial art that only free people may choose voluntarily.

Lunch afforded time to reflect upon how that came about at all, thanks to the sacrifices borne by extraodinary men and women willing to improve the life of their posterity- us.   We're amazed, humbled, grateful, and willing to live and work as such.

Thank you to each student for spending Memorial Day practicing with rifles.  Mostly from UCSD, young men and women just exercising their rights to assemble and associate freely, to keep and bear arms; a typical day in the US, but impossible many other places on earth.  University students, drawn from all over the US and the world, surely notice how much freedom we have here.

Make good use of it!

Thanks again to all the instructors for making this shoot run well and on short notice.

Everybody who asked to borrow a rifle received one.

Blessings of Liberty,
-FM

Hello, my name is Nathan and I am the President of the Marksmanship Club @ UCSD and I helped coordinate this shoot with Francis Marion.. Frank and I seem to have a pretty good working relationship for these shoots with two good events between us and hopefully many more to come. This shoot went off in perfect fashion (save for the range's tardiness for opening the gates and getting us onto the range in a timely fashion) and I couldn't be prouder of my colleagues for attending this shoot and making this event happen.

34 shooters signed up for this shoot and 28 ended up attending. Nearly all of them were UCSD students and a few others actually work at UCSD. One of my goals is to get some professors or administrators out on the line, that will be quite a sight.

Another one of my goals is increasing firearms ownership. Of the 34 that attended, approximately 14 requested loaner firearms and we only met the required loaner rifle count from a local hoplophile. I estimate actual gun ownership (1 or more guns) of the club's 120 members to be about 15% so perhaps another Mosin Madness is in order :)

Anyways, here are some photos. Thanks again to the Appleseed Project for bringing together the perfect blend of American patriotism and good marksmanship for the Marksmanship Club @ UCSD!

CARRY ON!

Great job putting this together folks! O0

Hopefully we can get the range to let us put on more events at this location!

Keep up the good work San Diego Crew!

Good job FM  O0
Really sorry I missed this one.
Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
Calvin Coolidge
