I have an AR15 that is an M4 clone.  It is a colt 6920 like this one:

The front sling point is not on the bottom but at 90 degrees on the left side.  I am guessing that this would be best on the bottom for loop sling use.  What is the best way to fix this?

Thanks,

Scott

I'm not entirely sure about the design of the Colt hand guards, but most M4 styles allow you put a short strip of rail on the bottom. Lots of companies sell these. After one puts a short strip of rail on, it is pretty easy to get a picatinny rail sling stud mount.

Assuming you have a hole in your handguard to mount it through, the Harris bipod adapter/swivel #5 works well.

I sewed a close-fitting loop of 1" web around the barrel/front sight base (threaded through the "hole" in the front sight base) and attached the sling to that.  This allows me to use the sling in either side or bottom configuration without fiddling with it.  Snug paracord around the butt tube threaded through the slot underneath gives me a place to clip the sling to the side in the rear so a firm hasty doesn't cant the rifle like the bottom rear swivel does.  Yeah- it looks rather er - "expedient," but it works.
