On a cloudy misty day five patriots assembled at Burlington Flats Fish and Game Club to learn the skills of a rifleman and reconnect to their heritage...

The weather was typical for an Appleseed at B-Flats.  Saturday was damp with some wind, not to bad really.  Sunday, the heavens opened up and provided good range weather... lots of rain but the no real wind.  Adverse conditions, but our shooters like good riflemen preserved.

Speaking of the shooters:

Sunday morning, Jay joined the ranks of American riflemen scoring a 211 on a rainrise AQT.  His scores continued to rise throughout the day.  We didn't have anyone else achieve a riflemen score, but all the shooters did a remarkable job and improved greatly.  Watching the group size shrink and shrink is perhaps one of the most rewarding things I see as an instructor.

One of our youngest shooters, who was new to Appleseed and this type of shooting started out with no discernable group.  By the end of Sunday his groups were not only discernable but getting nice and tight.  Even better he was brought to this Seed by his cousin a repeat Appleseeder from the September 2010 shoot at B-Flats.  Both of them were accompanied by their grandfather who endured the weather right alongside them.  It is always a please to see families on the line.

We were also joined for part of the day on Saturday by to of the RBC attendees for part of the day on Saturday.  Both unfortunately had to leave early, one having to return back to Canada.

Alongside the shooters were great instructors. Little Mo and The Mrs did a great job calling the line all weekend long.  This was the first shoot for CountryBoy243 as an IIT, he worked tirelessly getting right down with the shooters and more then earned his promotion to IIT 1.

Joining us from the RBC, was Spanner who provided excellent instruction with a great mix of humor.  Jay Haich stayed all of Saturday after shooting the RBC, it was a pleasure to work with one of Connecticut's finest.  We were also joined by NY newest IIT Derek, fresh from the RBC, who will be a great asset to the program.

I did not have a camera with me this weekend, but others did and I'm sure pictures will be coming.

Fine Weekend it was,,,,

I could not think of a better way to spend the weekend,,, The mud, the rain, it's what makes B-Flats the place to be, The young folks, took to this weekend like a duck to water,,, literally,, it was wet,,, But like Odin said, they kept on a goin,,, awsome group,,, I got a few pictures, I will get them up tonight,,,,
Jay and his shootin buddy came from the Rochester area,,, Just one examble of the dedication to learn about the history of this great country and riflemarksmanship,,, They did an outstanding job,,,

I will add more later, my brain and body are still pretty fried, it been a long week,,,

Thank You Burlington Flats, Fish and Game Club for being such great hosts and promoters of Project Appleseed,,,

Jay here from Rochester.

There is no way I can possibly thank everyone enough for such an awesome weekend.  THANK YOU!!!

Brad and I are looking at one of the Throop, NY shoots after Memorial Day.  Hopefully we'll be able to drag some more shooters out with us.  I definitely want to make sure that Appleseed is still around when my boy is ready for his first shoot.

SgtRock:  I'm hooked and it's your fault.  Thank you.  :)

An extra special thanks to Spanner and SgtRock who let me borrow rifles when my Marlin started to have feed problems.

THANK YOU!

It was a great time having you on the line at B-Flats,,, 0-5-1-1,,, Jay,, you are most welcome,,, anytime you need something let me know,,,
SunnyAM from NYC did an outstanding job with an AR all day Sunday,,, She handled that rifle like a pro,, hats off to you!!!
Brad had scope ring malfunctions but he quickly got into the back up iron sights,,, I can see new things (rings and things in his future)

To Ian and Brady our 12yr olds had a blast in  the mud,,, soaking wet,,, wrinkled fingers, prepacked lunches, and a lot of ammo,,, they showed some outstanding progress,,, they will make fine riflemen in the near future,, I gave them an invitation to come here anytime to shoot and learn,,, in between AS shoots,,,,,  But they have to bring their Grandfather with them,, he is a fine outstanding, direct descendant of a Rev. War Veteran that stood his ground in 1775, very much a joy to be around, who knows that this project is what this country needs right now,,, He has quite a few more grand kids waiting in the wings for their time on the line,,,

To the instructors,,,  Odin, Spanner from WV, Jay Haich from CT, LittleMo, The Mrs., Countryboy243, and our newest IIT from The Buffalo area Tuscarora, I can't thank you enough,,, It was truly a good time because of your hard work and dedication to the mission,,,,

Till the next time, keep your powder dry

Thanks to all involved with the shoot on Saturday. It was great to be part of the B-Flats team for a day. As usual I picked up some pointers from my fellow instructors and I enjoyed seeing the shooters making progress. I look forward to seeing you all on the Appleseed Trail.   I will post more photos shortly.....

If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

Fred; Quoted (out of context) at an IBC on Battle Road 2011 "All it takes is a Red Hat and a Sharpie to run an Appleseed."
We ALL know this is not true and I would like to thank all the Hats, Admin and other volunteers that are involved in making an Appleseed Shoot happen.....

Jay, it was a pleasure meeting and working with you.  Hope to see you back at B-Flats at some point in the future.

Those groups you see on the red coat were the ones that SunnyAM constantly shot on Sunday with an AR-15 that she had never used before.  It was amazing to see.
