Project Appleseed

The Wildlife Hunters Association of Colorado was home to one of the largest Appleseed shoots in the nation this past weekend. Forty four great folks came out to try their hand at our AQTs and hear some history. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. The shooters hung in as long as I let them but the blowing dirt and sand required us to stop early on both days. Still, we have one new Rifleman in our ranks. All the students persevered and had teachable attitudes which made it a pleasure to be on the line with them. Also the instructors all stepped up and made this a wonderful shoot.

Wow, what a great weekend.  I felt a little like Lawrence of Arabia after the first day.  Sand, Sand, Sand.  Note to self, when shooting in the middle of a freshly plowed field, with wind gusts up to 30 ish MPH,  Goggles, Goggles Goggles!

I am still cleaning the sand out of my ears, gear and truck.  AND A RIFLEMAN PERSISTS.  The participants were fantastic! They really hung in.  I didn't know peanut butter and jelly sandwiches could be so crunchy.  Love that sand.

Anyway, we did the best we could, and quite a few shooters will be back with their ROC's in hand, ready to attack the AQT, perhaps on a bit milder day! 

Our brand new shooters stepped up as well.  Huzzah Huzzah!  Can't wait to see them next time.
