A fantastic job, as always, by The Burlington Flats Crew.  Nice work in nasty weather conditions - but that's when you folks seem to work the best!

Congratulations to Odin on the promotion; and to sgtrock for guiding and mentoring him every step along the way.

Thanks to instructors and shooters alike for making this a successful event.  And thanks for helping us in our efforts to save our nation.

Congrats Dan! A very excellent addition to the Red Hat Instructor crew and I am guessing the only Norse speaking one. sgtrock is a stickler for details and procedure so we KNOW you worked hard for it.   O0

Strong full value winds, driving rain, and smiling shooters what more could we instructors ask for, it even snowed for a little bit for a little icing on the cake (we even had birthday cake).

With winds gusting up to 50-55 mph I was fully expecting to see some large horizontal groups.  What I saw was consistent 4 moa grouping, which just reinforces my opinion that "bad weather" is good range weather.  As much as I would like to credit this instructing we provided, it really comes down to the shooters applying the fundamentals and preserving, in other words being good riflemen and riflewomen.

Speaking of the shooters:

What a great group of Americans to have on the line.  Dan and Mike, our returning riflemen did an outstanding job.  I believe Mike managed to get up in the mid to even a high 230s.  Alan and Luke, did amazing with Rueger 10/22s with the factory sights.  Alan did switch to a 10/22 with a scope (who can blame him) and his groups shrunk even more.  Joe and Sokha, I wasn't able to work with that much but I saw your groups, you are well on you way to becoming riflemen.

Jackie, Ashley, Sammi, Jonathan:   Some of our young and newest shooters.  Each one showed remarkable perseverance and improvement.  All of them were a pleasure to have on the line and I look forward to seeing them at a future Appleseed.  Seeing these great young Americans gives me hope for the future of our nation.

Dave is right on the door to getting his patch and that brings me to Ethan our newest riflemen to take on the mantle of instructor.  It was great to see orange on his head, and I know he will be a valuable asset to the program.  Shortly after taking the hat he stepped off the line and was helping clear it and working with the other shooters.

And finally to my fellow instructors:  As always it was a pleasure working with you.  Your dedication and efforts made this shoot a success.

B9, Mark thank you for the congratulations.  I hope I can live up to the fine example that you and all the other instructors that I have meet and worked with have set.

And with that I'm going to go to sleep because it has been a long busy weekend.

PS - R1sgx2, I promise I'm not following you around.  It's just a coincidence.  You showed up while I was typing.  I got one of those "someone has posted" warnings.

KDan:  I'll be around for at least part of the RBC in May.  Can't make it for the full week since its a pay week and lets just say I don't need an angry mob chasing me down the firing line demanding their paychecks (being a payroll manager does have its disadvantages).  I will be at the Appleseed following the RBC.

Kooch13:  You're welcome, but we are only partly responsible for the great experience you have had.  A large part is because of you and your fellow shooters.  Hopefully we will see you at another event soon and get you that riflemen score.

Thanks to all who put so much effort into making the Appleseed at Burlington Flats a learning experience never to be forgotten.

Lifetime lessons in marksmanship, history and heritage were interwoven with real life know-how, honest camaraderie, keen humor and a sense of purpose that poured out of profoundly dedicated instructors who clearly believed in what they said and said what they believed.

Truth like this comes from deep within the heart, it is the very core of our Nation's existence ...our instructors shared that with us ...it is and always will be very much appreciated...nothing more could have been asked for.

Sgt Rock, Odin, CharlieGirl, Farmboy243....Thanks Much!

To the other participants...a terrific bunch of good people...always remember this experience and pass it on....

Hey sgtrock, I wante d to send this post in reg to your September 2010 Appleseed at Burlington flats. I can't say enough about this program and all of the range officers! You guys are great! the patients and help that you gave to my deaf son will always be remembered! Noah had such an awesome time and learned so much! I appreciate the way you came up with a way of communicating with a deaf child on your range and keeping him safe! I think you have a great thing going with a nice blend of the history of the true rifleman as well as helping teach everyone to become a true American rifleman! I tell all of my friends how wonderful a program you have as well as the fact that anyone can do this. And your willingnes to get everyone through no matter what their age or handicap! Thank you so much to you and all of your staff! God bless America!!
