It was another fine day at home range in Piru California. With a total Saturday of 22 shooters most of them were first timers, and several families we off to a great start. It was a great mix of Patriots that showed up to discover their inner Rifleman. The weather was near perfect 80° and no wind, and as you can see in the pictures we even have grass growing.
We had two Riflemen minted on Saturday, Ken and Matt; both shot 211 and just missed a dose of North Bridge Water. Ken was Saturday only shooter and made 211 on his first AQT.
Emilie, Carol and Angel also made a good showing for themselves with great scores. Emilie was shooting the famous pink rifle with great effect in the morning but ran out of steam in the afternoon. The Duquettes also showed great improvement, Chase thanks for signing the family up and getting them off the couch! It was a pleasure to have you all there. Michael and James came out from Ojai with very little experience and by the end of the day were doing well. Michael was doing a great job of shooting the 50 yard steel redcoat. Brandon a first timer came up and shot a bolt gun on Saturday and did well but had to leave early on Sunday.

Sunday we had 9 shooters show up shoot.
On Sunday the fun continued with George making a 214 and Pete, Matt's dad shooting a very respectable 234!
All of the shooters did an excellent job and showed great improvement at the end of the day. Scott did and excellent job with a couple of 201's. Next time Scott the day will be yours.

Saturday  the scores for  Redcoats looked like this.

AM             PM

100 - 2           100 - 7

300 - 1           300 - 6
400 - 0            400 - 5

As you can see we had lots of work to do!

Mr. Pete will provide the Stats for Sunday's Redcoat

Once again thanks to everyone who showed up t o make this happen. And a special thanks to the instructors!

That was a GREAT Appleseed!  What a nice bunch.

Great to work with so many new (to me, anyway) instructors as well.  I'll see y'all around.

Here's a few more pictures, from reverse angle:

Everyone on the line on Saturday

One student couldn't get there until late on Sunday, but Dano and I gave him some special attention, while the other instructors handled everything without any fuss

Congratulations to our FOUR new Riflemen!  Here's Ken...

Here's Matt...

Matt's proud pa Pete...

And the very determined George!  Huzzah!

See you all at the next one!

Personal highlights:
I saw families have fun together.
I saw an amazing 4 riflemen minted this weekend...and more on the cusp.
I saw our shooters rally on the last RedCoat of the day.
I saw hope...not as an empty promise, but shown in the achievement and appreciation of the shooters.

I want to be there when Scott gets his patch.  Bum knee and all he rallied to clear the Redcoat at the end of the day.  Pete made his 234 while struggling with a pulled muscle in his arm.

It is all easy when we have such great students and instructors.  What a great way to spend a weekend!

Thanks to all,
-Peter

Special thanks to Dano, Mr. Pete, L0ck, RocketMan, CowgirlDucky, and Joker!  If I missed any instructors, I appologize, but thank you as well.  Your instruction was really great, and I, for one, really appreciate the time and effort that you all expend to bring these skills and history to us.  Again, thanks!
For me, the experience was a real eye-opener, both on the shooting side and our history side.  The historical information was particularily inspiring.  As a husband and father of two "little patriots", it is good to be reminded of the sacrifice, commitment, and the gravity of the decisions that our founding patriots made.
Couldn't have had a better time. This was one of the most worthwhile weekend activities I have participated in for a long time.  -More rewarding than yardwork, that's for sure!   ;)
Agian, I can't thank the whole crew enough.
Also special thanks to JMirel who came down from Sac for the shoot and let me use his rifle throughout the weekend, as my LTR broke a couple days before the shoot.  Thanks buddy!
Looking forward to seeing you guys again, I will be practicing, and I will be back.
Best 'till next time,
Scott
