We 'shoot guns' and honor dead white guys.

Prince Estabrook.... Shot in that first "ragged volley" on Lexington Green....  One of Captain Parker's Men...
"In Honor of Prince Estabrook -- Prince Estabrook was a slave who lived in Lexington. At dawn on April, 19, 1775, he was one of the Lexington Minute Men awaiting the arrival of the British Regulars at the Buckman Tavern. In the battle which followed, Prince Estabrook was wounded on Lexington Green. Through circumstances and destiny, he thus became the first black soldier to fight in the American Revolution. -- This monument is dedicated to the memory of Prince Estabrook and the thousands of other courageous black patriots long denied the recognition they deserve. -- Donated by the Alice Hinkle Memorial Fund -- April 21, 2008"

The speaker bio pages for the convention are up.  We still expect more speakers.  We just got a lot of free advertising with this.  We need a poll on Fred's pic!  http://myteapartyconvention.com/Keynote_Speakers.html

Fred looks darn good to me, but what happened to Ann Coulter #)
"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value."   T Paine

Thanks for that link.  I'm lining up some speaking engagements at some black churches in Memphis and I will use it.  Oh, I didn't mean to say that we only honored dead white guys.

Just thought he might be worth mentioning....  Even as a Slave he volunteered....  He made a choice...  The same choice as the others....  To some an even stronger one...

Poster Boy worked Fred to death trying to get that pose at the Waterman 300.
I was holding the Ft Moultrie Flag ... forgot who was holding the others.
Great shot PB.  Fred looks like a true visionary in that one.

Suggestion:
Can we get a link to the website in Fred's bio?

The picture is beautiful.  A real work of art.

Not to be a jerk, but could someone have proofread the bio first?  The grammar is wrong in a lot of places.  The style does not match the rest of the bios.  The message seems confusing to people who have never heard of Appleseeed.

If we're going to be thrown into the limelight, we want to appear as polished and professional as possible.  Polished and professional this is not.

Edited: If we add a link to Appleseed's' website, can we also clean this up, remove the 6 line sentences, remove the extraneous quotation marks, and turn this into something that clearly conveys who Mr. Daily is, what Appleseed is, and looks as well structured and thought out as our organization is in actuality?

I've just scanned this thread so maybe someone else has already made this suggestion.  Is there a way to modify Fred's bio on the link to include a link to AS's webpage?

I asked Mogget for a bio.  Once I get it, it'll be posted.  Remember, this is what was on the 'leadership' link that is no longer there.  I had to get something in and I'll be damned if I write Fred's bio.

Thanks so much for doing all this, Dart.

You're welcome, but let's leave the thanking of each other until it's successfully behind us.  There will be a whole lot more thanking to go around.  I was just in the right place at the right time and have a big mouth.  I believe any other Appleseeder would do the same.

Seriously, 7 days later and no update on the bio???? It's a bunch of gibberish!

I'll write one right now.

No offense intended to anyone but everyday the existing bio remains up the more amatuerish and deranged we look. It doesn't hvae to be perfect, but get SOMETHING else up right away. Change it again later if you have to.

OK, guys, TC has a point.

Any chance of getting the new bio up in the next day or so?

Since I wrote the one up there now, and have no problem with us not wanting to look "deranged" (it was written for a vastly different audience), I hope the answer will be, "Fred, you blind goof - take a look - it's already up there!" :)

I sent in the new bio and pic.  I'll ask the guy that does the website when he will get it posted.

That is an incredibly STRONG lineup of speakers!

I'm thankful Fred was even invited. At this point in our history, I have more concern for liberty lost than for images of who we are. We must remain true to our calling as Americans first. We must reach the people, as many as we can. I will not be there, but support it whole heartedly!

B-Line, thanks for your advice. Not to be argumentative, but I don't think Mogget would tell you she "instructs" Fred in anything.

The meda is too busy demonizing firearm feeding devices to worry about rifles.  The title of Rifleman is a badge of honor that they are simply not going to take note of and instead will focus on other things if they happen to be looking for sensationalism.   Overreacting on our part in the spirit of PC over another silly iceberg is simply not an option from my perspective and I wouldn't expect out leadership to do so.... Please give Fred the credit which is due of him that he is capable of carrying himself appropriately in public.. :cool2:

Understand your concerns.

The Congresswoman who thought that a barrel shroud was a "shoulder thingy" was preparing to reintroduce the Assault Weapons Ban Legislation the Monday after the shootings.

We need to get our story out to as many people as we can.

Thinking about Fred introducing himself as a Rifleman would be a pretty good speech.

Explain the history and heritage of the American Rifleman.

Talk about how the Appleseed Project is keeping alive the tradition of the American Rifleman, Our Heritage and encouraging Civic Participation to honor the sacrifices of our founders.

It's not like we can describe our activities as a "quilting bee".

Come to think of it I've heard him give that speech on a rifle range in Nevada.

It's what got me into the program.

I commit a minimum of $2500 to whatever project or projects that you think will most improve the participation of AS'ers at the convention: registration fees, transportation, hotel costs, range fees, food costs, bail money...  but I call the line at table dances or illicit drugs.  I gotta have some limits.

Just PM me and let me know what you and Fred and Mogs thinks would be the most effective allocation of resources to make this a major success for Appleseed.

If allocation of more resources would yield a disproportionate increase in the benefit to AS, that is negotiable.
