"We have four boxes used to guarantee our liberty: The soap box, the ballot box, the jury box and the cartridge box". -- Ambrose Bierce (1887)

I've tried to make it a habit to buy a new gun the day after election day.  I'd like to say it's because I want to exercise my rights, but really it's because I like guns... though generally the less I like the election results, the more I buy. (Two years ago I bought 3.)

Unfortunately, with my current job situation and the economy, I didn't feel I could swing it this year; even adding a Mosin Nagant would be a stretch.

I'm wondering if anyone partakes in this post-election habit and if they did, did they pick up anything interesting?

Hmm...does buying more ammo count...or just rifles? I've got some more .30-06 coming...FWIW.

In 2008 when I saw which way the political winds were  blowing and having the discretionary income (ahh the good old days), I was adding one per month to the gun safe which soon necessitated another gun safe. Crown jewel was an M1A. Glad I did it then because no way I could swing it now.

Post election buy?

What ever happened to 1 gun a month? Isn't that the law somewhere?  ;D

Nah, I pretty much hoard armaments all the time... nothing special for election day.  My election day routine is to drink a glass of champagne to celebrate the riddance of the evil bastard that just got voted out, and take a shot of whiskey to mourn the election of the evil bastard that just got voted in.

And then I go back to trying to live as free as possible from their interference... and of course back to hoarding armaments and shooting a lot.  Maybe making a few Riflemen here and there.  ;)
"Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual."
-- Thomas Jefferson to Isaac H. Tiffany, 1819
