Was glad to see Bill make Rifleman, and with style shot a 228, Bills 5th AS. And Bill and his daughter Karis are continuing the journey.  O0
A lot of powerful stuff happened this weekend, Rodger (helo pilot from nam) and Pat from Maine brought water that flowed under North Bridge, all the patches handed out this weekend were christened with the water, at least one shooter went to his car and got his previous earned Rifleman patch to be christened. O0  ..:.. Rodger, Nice.....
Anniv. of Battle of Bennington weekend, during the last red coat on Sunday afternoon Goodpiper bagpiped Amazing Grace, and someone had their bugle and immediately played taps in memory of the lost Militia members. Powerful, I think there will be photo's.  :~ :---
Humidity and Heat Sunday was met with cold sweet watermelon. ^:)^
Good History on the Bennington Battle.
Was Honored to be part of this event.  &)

The Old Guide

Roger is "The Old Guide" from Maine. Pat and I spent the previous weekend with Crak at the IBC along the Battle Road in Mass. I was born before WWII so I made Rifleman under SeanO in Maine using a scoped LTR. However, as an Orange Hat I wanted to fire Rifleman with iron sights. I fired a 224 with my LTR and Tech Sights. I guess I got the squint dialed in right.

Yes, a few went and got their patches to be anointed with North Bridge water. I left some of that water with Buzzworth. Great facility there at Hale Mountain. They have a real 500 yard range and covered firing points. Free camping too.
Our history is not a list of dates and places. It is a dynamic adventure of freedom and individual courage.

I want to thank Shoot Boss Buzzworth, Red Hats Andy & R1SGX2, and the Orange Hats for a great weekend at the Bennington shoot! Both my fiance Sue and I learned more history and shooting skills from all the instructors. Both of us shot our personal best scores on the AQT (this being our 2nd Appleseed), and know what we need to work on to improve our scores and someday, hopefully soon, earn the Rifleman patch. The North Bridge water, and Amazing Grace and Taps at the end of the day on Sunday was very moving!

Thank you!

Growing old is mandatory; Growing up is optional!  :)

Marksmanship can be taught and learned,
but the motivation has to be inspired for the
people to become involved.
How many have you inspired that became involved?

Bennington Battle Day Weekend!

Three deer in this picture, (they all walked away)

Dad and his three sons.

Ball and dummy.

Mega magnification (14x?)

Karis

The buddy finger drill.

Chris (with the lefty safety - I think we all got tricked by it at least once when clearing the line!)

Cool paint job.

Neat set up despite the short sight radius.

Keep you eye pro on!

Same casing, different view.

Anointed Rifleman's patches.

Bob gets his patch.  (On his first AQT?)

Charlie gets his patch. (Another first AQT?)

Pat gets a little bit of appreciation as husband Roger looks on.

Young Patriots off to a good start.

More blessings.

Andy gets his patch.

Bill gets his patch.

Roger goes traditional in more ways than one.

Pipes...

and bugles!

Dude

I was as much thrilled with my daughter getting a 201 as getting my own patch. Working with the A/S gang has been a great joy; you can't put a price on the help you get and the character of these men (and gals, too!) is second to none. I look forward to being with them and helping push my daughter over that magic number. Seeing her keep persevering for this after a number attempts has been a real neat thing to watch, let me tell you. So, there's even more to  Appleseed than training a rifleman and teaching him or her some of the truths of how this country came to be. It truly builds character.

And, also, I'll be wearing an orange hat in the near future. (That's right, Buzzworth, you read it here!  :) )

<<side note to website folks: you need to add a new smiley- one with an orange hat!>>  ;)
