HOT! This was the first time I've really suffered from the heat.  $$-0  But we had about 18 hardy shooters who survived it very well. We were fortunate to have a couple of young shooters who were very safe and shot well. In fact, many shooters shot very very well today. The weather seemed to become more reasonable in the afternoon. We managed to get in one AQT which yielded one Rifleman. We could have held a couple more AQTs but an approaching thunder storm, accompanied with lightning, caused us to cease at 5:00 p.m. I expect more Riflemen tomorrow.

This shoot has been sold out for weeks and several people had to be turned away. The enthusiasm shown today, and the disappointment shown by the ones who had to be turned away, gives us hope that further shoots will be held at this new venue.

I had a great time, and hope that everyone else did as well.  I'm also pretty excited about being successful today.  Thank you all for coming down and doing this.

No doubt, that this event this weekend was a success!  I learned a lot, it was more challenging than I thought, had fun with like minded people.  It was great to see three couples there and the two young shooters.  Although, I didnt make rifleman, I am a better marksman/shooter in the overall picture of things.  I plan to participate in another and will recommend to others.

Dond - thanks for letting me borrow the sling and swivels.  But, I forgot to return them when packing my rifle.  Let me know how you want to handle this.  I could mail them back, pay for them, or return them to you at the next event.  Just let me know.

Great job to all the Appleseed folks.  The visual aids for the six steps and sight pictures were great.  I have heard people try to explain sight pictures and having the visual aids to illustrate it was effective.  Also, great patience by the instructors and knowledge.  I didnt realize that Appleseed folk would provide the bottled water like you all did, that was a plus, thanks!

And, thanks to my home range, Coast Rifle and Pistol Club (gcrpc.com) for allowing the event and hosting it.  Good job Hale.

Only suggestion I can think of:  when demonstrating the different sling positions, the group watched empty handed.  Perhaps, walking the group with the sling positions with their individual rifles as a group.  Of course, having an instructor in front of the firing line demonstrating to the group while the group is handling their rifle is problematic.  I was still able to grasp the different sling types.  Instructors did a great job in thier demonstrations and pointing the specifics of each shooting position though.

Money and time well spent, thanks again.

Hello All,

Andrew here. I just wanted to drop a line and let you know that I had great time this weekend and thought the shoot was a excellent success. I also wanted to reiterate that it was a pleasure getting to shoot with Don and all the Appleseed staff who took the time to come down and spend their holiday weekends with us.

I definitely learned quite a bit about marksmanship and the Founding Fathers; It was an appropriate way to spend Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks to Hale for ramrodding this for our club; I'm looking forward to attending another shoot this year. Hopefully the weather will be a little more hospitable for us next time.

In the meantime, I promise to practice and give the Redcoat targets hell.  :)

Many Thanks to All!

Biloxi Steve

My first thanks go to Big Don, Don & Sarah, Steve, Mark and Derek for volunteering your time, effort and patience putting on this first Coast Appleseed. You once again demonstrated how important history is and your professonalism as instructors.

To Hale and the staff at the Coast Rifle and Pistol Club, Job Well Done. I truly believe the event was a resounding success As others have stated, future events should be as good or bettter. Even if we don't get rained on.

To all my fellow shooters, keep the faith, we will all qualify as riflemen at future events, either here or making a vacation trip to another Appleseed event locaton. Just keep practicing the things we were taught.

Every man should know what he is about.

Thanks to all the shooters for showing up and congrats to the new Riflemen.  This was my second time hearing Don present the history and it was, once again, a very moving experience.  Thank you, Don and Steve for doing that for us.  The attention and patience shown by the shooters was inspiring.

I can't wait to see some of the pictures.
