Just wrapped up another successful shoot outside of Osage, WY at the Hidden Ridge Ranch.

First off: many, many thanks to the property owner, Rich, for hosting and helping getting everything set-up.

Seems like I say this every time, but it's true... the weather was almost perfect!   Thursday was cold, windy with mixed sleet and hail.   That nastyness finally blew through by Friday afternoon.   Saturday and Sunday it was in the upper 50s with light winds and mostly sunny skies.   A few hours after the shoot wrapped up it started raining...

Turn out was a little light.  Had seven shooters Saturday and five Sunday, including two new participants.    Despite the low numbers I am really encouraged by the fact that five of the seven were kids, ~ 16 and under.   Seeing the kids out there trying hard and making improvement is what it's all about.   Keep practicing guys!   You'll get it.   I think two of the older boys would have scored Rifleman had they been able to make it back Sunday.

I am honored to announce that USAF Lt. Col. Ed qualified as a Rifleman with a score of 228.   He demonstrated improvement all day Saturday and put it all together on Sunday.   Despite other obligations, he decided to stay for just one more AQT and nailed it!   Good Job!    I am also extremely pleased to report that Ed has accepted the challenge of becoming an Appleseed Instructor.    I know he will make a tremendous advocate for the program and superb teacher.

One of our Sunday newcomers also did real well and wrapped up the day shooting a 207...

We did take advantage of the opportunity to do some KD shooting.   Although we didn't have time to run a full distance AQT, we did some groups at 300 and 500 to verify come-ups and also shot on steel at around 400.

Special thanks to the other instructors that turned out:  B-Line, So Close, Beulahtrash, Jared.   Good job guys!   Couldn't have done it with out you!   You can't image how much easier it makes a bosses job to have competent support.

Oh I forgot to acknowledge our most improved shooter.

Deb started the Sunday morning Red Coat by not even getting a single shot on the 2x4 ft target backer.   By the end of the day, she was consistently shooting at least 6 minute groups.   Still need a lot of work, but stick with it and keep practicing.   I do have quite a few Purple Yottnotin Ranger Rifleman patches.  Keep coming back and you'll earn one in no time!

Though you might like this Count. This is the first shots after the event. That is the small target, 8 shots per target.

The one with two flyers was 8 shots in 10 seconds.

Thanks for the great instruction.

Congratulations to the new riflemen in Wyoming!

I can't wait to get back up there.
