Greg in MO

I confess that on Friday I was not having a good day.  I was hoping to leave early from work and get down to the range early.  Instead, my afternoon meeting went much later than expected, and by the time I got home I was already way behind schedule.  Hop in the truck and take off.  I didn't make it 5 miles before the truck is overheating and little red lights are flashing at me.  I pulled off the highway as quickly as I could and managed to stop the truck before any damage.  It seems that my lower radiator hose had burst and dumped all the coolant on the highway.  I was lucky to get the truck shut off before I cooked the engine.  Fortunately, I was just down the street from an Autozone, so a quick call to Cookie Lady and we were off the the store.  I was also lucky that they had the hose I needed, so a hose change, 3 gallons of new coolant and 2 hours later I was back on the road.  So instead of getting to Paulette's place at 6pm, I got there at 9:30pm or so, just wanting to crawl into bed.

Once I finally got there, things started looking up.  Paulette took good care of me and had dinner waiting.  A quick meal and off to bed.

Saturday started as a beautiful sunny day.  Paulette's husband Dan had already set up the line for us, so there wasn't much for Chris and I to do but wait for our shooters to show up.  With only 3 preregs, we weren't expecting much.  Fortunately, a couple walk on shooters brought our totals up to five, which was a good number for only 2 instructors.  What we lacked in numbers, the shooters made up in enthusiasm.  What a great group.  Paulette and Dan (our hosts), Sharon, Angie and Mike had great attitudes, and worked hard all day.  We saw great improvement all day.  This was one of the safest groups I have worked with.  No safety issues.  Excellent muzzle discipline, and no shots when there weren't supposed to be any.

All the shooters paid attention during the history presentation, and perservered despite the rain and hail that fell on us through the day.  We got 2 AQTs in, and the shooters were all getting the process down.  By the time we were done, lightning was moving in, and it was a good time to be done for the day.  Unfortunately, Mike couldn't return on Sunday, but I am sure we will see him again.

Saturday evening Paulette went above the call of duty and fed Chris and I very well in her own home.  Couldn't have asked for better treatment.

Another good nights sleep and better weather on Sunday morning.  Although Mike couldn't return, Paulette's granddaughter Allie joined us, so we still had five great shooters.  After the first redcoat, we did some sight adjustments and then started the AQT grind.  No riflemen this time, but I am sure that every one of the shooters will persist and we will see them on the line again.  What a great group of Americans anxious to wake up their fellow countrymen.

I cannot thank Paulette and Dan enough for offering their land as a new Missouri range and granting us such hospitality.  For those of you who missed this shoot, you missed a great one and a fantastic new range.  Watch the schedule for more shoots at this location, and make sure you don't miss the next one.  There are even rumors of an All-Women's shoot in the works, so stay tuned!

Talk about a tough start to the weekend of SEEDING. Good job and will power. And the weather broke for Sunday for you, that's nice, the weather being nice last day always helps to have shooters to remember and focus. Good job, O0 tell Paulette we are having a shoot here in Lake George NY this month if she is available to cook.  **) ^:)^Sounds like you had a good team and the Hosts were welcoming.

Greg,

You are most generous in your comments.  It is 'I' that am grateful.  Grateful for the time you and Chris gave to us this week end, and for all the instructors that purpose in their heart to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.  Your patience and kindness have not gone without notice.

I was so disappointed that the numbers for attendees were so low - after the last drill on Sunday it was easy to see that 'all of our time' was well spent.  Personally I am 'thrilled' that FINALLY my equipment is working FOR me ( are you reading this KR ?).  Though I think I may have created a 'monster'.  With Dan, Sharon, Allie and I all shooting (Caden closing in fast) I will be buying .22 by the CASE.  ;D

I am totally excited about the prospect of having an all womens shoot here at the farm.  I can not tell you how honored I feel that you would want to come here for such and event.  I can promise that we will do everything we possibly can to make it safe, fun and as comfortable for all involved as possible.

HaHa --- Greg was kind !  I must confess, 'I' was not much of a cook but a good WARMER UPPER.   Most of it came from the FROZEN FOOD SECTION of the local grocer.  Hey   . . .  I girls gotta SHOOT ya know.  That 'cooking' stuff was  in my 'other life'. (life BEFORE guns).

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

My thanks to Paulette and Dan for being such wonderful hosts.  This is a great location, should be able to host a line of 50+ easily.

I've been on the line through all sorts of weather, but this was my first in a hailstorm!  Not tiny stuff, either, we're talking big marble size here.  Luckily, it didn't last long.
