Welcome Aboard Tully

You do not need a FOID to shoot at an Appleseed in IL. However, an Illinois "Citizen" needs one to legally transport a firearm to the range and back. Our neighbors, when traveling in IL, of course only need the gun unloaded and cased.  ++)

Be advised, Tully, that while you can legally purchase ammo since you're an out of state resident, most clerks at retailers are too ignorant or too afraid to sell it to you without that magic card.

Ensure you have enough ammo with you when you go or have Garand69 escort you to Wal-Mart to purchase some.

Hi there,
And welcome!!

Any shooter in Illinois knows what the "retail issues" here are.....

As an out of state hunter, I have had different luck with various clerks @ Gander Mt., & other sporting goods stores, trying to buy additional ammo.....
Once, two CCW permits from other states worked.....on other occasions, I had to produce my non-res temp hunting permit......once I even had a gal adamantly tell me that if I did not have a FOID card, I could buy "nothing lethal" in the entire state......Once I had the manager come over to set her right, I reminded her that regardless of what she had been told in her Pravda South School, there were in fact, 49 other states that made up America, & she needed to get a real good grip on that fact.....quickly. ++)

All that considered, I now ship (UPS) all my hunting ammo out ahead of time......if I was driving, I'd just carry it in the car.....or in your case, as Slim said, take Garand69 with you....... ;)

Hope you have a great time at the shoot!! O0

Hello Group; There are not many good retail clerks %) in the big box stores. The ammo issue is a clear sign that the clerks  %) have not been trained to our standard &). These and a boat load of other  !@#) laws and #) regulations have been traded for a false sense of security &). The term subject may be more accurate rather than Citizen in the Land of Suck. Where did the phrase enough ammunition come from :~?  We all would be happy to have our neighbors from any of the states attend any Appleseed here just follow the advice of Grand 69 on the transport of firearms, its the  @&) law here in Illinois. AS always, Pappy
