Title: 2018 Instructor Boot Camp Olympia, WA AAR
Post by: Kimber Custom on March 10, 2018, 12:49:20 AM
Super excited about this weekend. Instructors are coming from nearly every corner of our region to learn to be better instructors. Can't wait to see what this weekend holds.

Outstanding weekend with the NW cadre. Thanks to all who made it out. It was nice to see so many fresh faces as well as a good mix of familiar experience. Now, go sign up to work an event so you can put what you learned into practice :)

See you on the trail

I just wanted to thank everyone for taking the time out of their schedules to attend this IBC.   This was a very engaging IBC, and I think everyone took away some new information from the event.

I also wanted to thank Ben for the great food!   The meals were spectacular and I appreciated all the time you put into organizing the event.

Huzzah!

I look forward to working with the IITs that I just met!  Thanks for your dedication to the program.

Thanks to Kimber Custom and Prescott for setting up a great location and for all of the new (and some familiar) faces that attended the boot camp.

I do have one complaint, typically I lose some weight after each Appleseed but I gained weight after this IBC thanks to Kimber's pulled pork, brisket, and chili.  This is going to make demo sitting even harder for me.... :slap:

A belated thanks to Kimber Custom and Prescott for putting this on: great food, and a good refresher to knock some of the winter rust off. It was a pleasure to meet several new IITs and see familiar faces, and I look forward to working with you all on the trail. Here are a few links to things that I find useful; feel free to use or adapt as needed. PM me if the links don't work.

Best illustration I've ever seen of "elbow under the rifle"
Extracted from the 1943 Infantry Journal publication "How To Shoot The US Army Rifle." I laminated this and usually show it when I teach prone SHF.

IMC handout
Modified from one that Janer showed me as an IIT, after I made a hash out of explaining IMC.

AQT scoring
My unofficial writeup on scoring; Kimber Custom covered this.

Targets
These are the ones Kimber Custom uses in his COI. I remade a couple of these as clean PDF files so I could order copies online at Staples or print them myself if need be.

Nice! I like that this is oriented towards instructors, rather than shooters. So much for getting any work done today...

The one I mentioned is also on archive.org, and I should have included the full text link: https://archive.org/details/How_to_Shoot_the_US_Army_Rifle (https://archive.org/details/How_to_Shoot_the_US_Army_Rifle)
