Title: "The boxes"
Post by: eaglescouter on September 11, 2013, 06:11:33 PM
Do you remember the story about the soap box, ballot box, jury box and cartridge box from your last Appleseed?

It is time to get off the couch and get involved again:

The purpose of this message is to awaken the town.

If you wish to debate, do it elsewhere please.

yup, just wrote JB myself. You are welcome to borrow and modify the below any way you like and email him directly:
I'd like to point out that some people are afraid to contact members of government for fear of be singled out or put on a list, but honestly, aren't these so called representatives trying their hardest to do that to you already?

Dear Governor Brown,

It is imperative that you **VETO** the following gun control bills:

SB 47 (Sen. Leland Yee)
SB 53 (Sen. Kevin de Leon)
SB 108 (Sen. Leland Yee)
SB 293 (Sen. Mark DeSaulnier)
SB 299 (Sen. Mark DeSaulnier)
SB 374 (Sen. Darrell Steinberg)
SB 396 (Sen. Loni Hancock)
SB 475 (Sen. Mark Leno)
SB 567 (Sen. Hannah Beth Jackson)
SB 683 (Sen. Marty Block)
SB 755 (Sen. Lois Wolk)
AB 48 (Asm. Nancy Skinner)
AB 169 (Asm. Roger Dickinson)
AB 170 (Asm. Steven Bradford)
AB 180 (Asm. Rob Bonta)
AB 231 (Asm. Philip Ting)
AB 500 (Asm. Tom Ammiano)
AB 711 (Asm. Anthony Rendon)
AB 1131 (Asm. Nancy Skinner)

These bills will criminalize and punish me and other law-abiding gun owners. We are peaceful, law-abiding people who want simply to exercise our Constitutionally-enumerated fundamental rights without fear of prosecution and harassment.

Don't let California's Legislature -- openly hostile to law-abiding gun owners like me -- take away our rights, freedom, and property. Don't let DOJ and local law enforcement confiscate my guns and put me in jail because I believe that the Bill of Rights means what it says. Don't let these bills become law.

We are counting on you, Governor, to VETO THESE GUN CONTROL BILLS and send them back to the Legislature.

Choose to defend our fundamental Constitutional rights. Choose liberty. Choose to VETO the gun control bills listed above.

Thank you very much for your time, consideration, and VETO.

SB396 (magazine ban) just got placed on the "inactive file" on the Assembly Floor!!!!

Good work to everyone.

SB53 (ammo licensing scheme) is still in the Assembly Public Safety Committee awaiting action.

SB374 (semi-auto rifle ban) is on the Senate Floor for a vote and could come up at any time. CALL, CALL, CALL.

The above was written by H. Paul Payne, NRA Liaison to the Executive Vice President

Dear fellow California residents,

We were dealt a crushing blow by both the California Senate and the California Assembly yesterday as they mustered their forces to pass multiple bills which will have a a negative impact on not just your rights, but more importantly on the rights of your children (our posterity).

The powder raid has been announced.
The plan was made public on 9/12/2013.
The next move is in the hand of our Governor who must veto these bills by October 13, 2013 or they become law.

Will you stand idle as our Government finishes its plans to remove all centerfire magazine fed semi-auto rifles from the populace within one generation?

Or was the battle outcome predetermined as you were comfortable with your cable television, smart phones and Government subsidized food and housing?

Just got a little note from Rocky Chavez (I realize 53 is dead):

Alert! Call Senators and Governor to Preserve 2nd Amendment Rights
As the 2013 Legislative Session draws to a close, there are several bills on the table that threaten the very foundation of our country. Please take a look at the bills below that are threatening our constitutional right to bear arms and contact their authors to tell them you oppose these bills.

SB 47 (Yee): (916) 651-4008. Changes the definition of an "assault weapon" to include those firearms with "fixed magazines." This will exponentially expand the number of firearms that fall into the "assault weapon" category.
SB 53 (De Leon): (916) 651-4022. Would limit the sale of ammunition to only licensed ammunition vendors. Violators would be charged with a misdemeanor. Would also require ammunition purchases to apply for an ammunition purchase authorization, requiring a fee from both purchaser and vendor.

Some have already passed through the Legislature and are sitting on the Governor's desk. In this instance, you are our last line of defense against the erosion of our rights.

Please call Governor Brown at (916) 445-2841 and ask him to veto these bills.

AB 711 (Rendon): Bans lead ammunition, which amounts to a ban on hunting in CA.
SB 374 (Steinberg): Bans the sale of semi-automatic rifles.
AB 48 (Skinner): Would require that the Department of Justice alert local law enforcement entities if a purchaser obtains more than 6,000 rounds of ammunition within a seven-day period. This includes buying, giving, selling or receiving large capacity magazines.
SB 683 (Block): Expands California's handgun safety certificate requirement to apply to all firearms, and prohibits anyone from purchasing or transferring any firearm without a firearm safety certificate.
SB 299 (DeSaulnier): Makes it a crime if a victim of firearm theft does not report the theft within 48 hours.
AB 231 (Ting): Expands the law relating to the storage of firearms. This bill does nothing to reduce California's violent crime problem and only turn law-abiding gun owners into criminals whether or not anything harmful actually happens, and regardless of whether there was any misconduct on the part of the gun owner. Ultimately, AB 231 is a misguided proposal that imposes unprecedented liability on those who choose to exercise their fundamental right to keep and bear arms.
SB 567 (Jackson): Redefines shotguns to include any firearm that may be fired through a rifled bore or a smooth bore, regardless of whether it is designed to be fired from the shoulder. SB 567 also bans the sale of shotguns encompassed by the revised definitions that have a revolving cylinder, and requires registration of these currently owned shotguns.

As always, please contact my office with any questions (760) 929-7998. We cannot delay in trying to stop these bills from becoming law.

Colonel Rocky J. Chavez
Assemblymember, 76th District

Governor Brown has not acted on these bills yet.
Unless he issues a veto by Oct 13 the bills become law even without his signature.

This is not a time to sit on the couch, this is a time to make a few more phone calls.
