Title: host range and tax write offs
Post by: doubleLL on September 15, 2010, 04:39:35 PM
Not sure where this question should go, but we are talking to a range in Texas and would like the answer to the following question before we talk to them again.

If a range normally charges for the use of their facility and donates the facility to AS, can the range write off the donation as a tax write off?

The RWVA is a 501(c)3 charitable organization.  As such, donations to RWVA are fully tax deductible, assuming they meet whatever other requirements the IRS may have for qualifying deductions.

As one not licensed to give tax advice, I would urge them to consult their tax preparer to determine the documentation requirements.

If RWVA has to write a letter accepting the donation, I believe that can be arranged.
