Welcome!  Glad you found us and I am glad you are interested in the program.  I live in the north-central area of Florida and will be at the St. Augustine and Bunnell shoots in the coming months.  The project is growing and we hope that you will have shoots near you soon.  If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to PM me and I'll help you any way I can.  Since you are in Largo, you are near to the Myakka City events and not too far from Starke and even Hernando.  Great venues and with frequent events.  Now that the end of the heat of summer is in sight, the fun gets even better.  See you on the trail!

If he is in Largo, then PHenry, RickB, myself (marrandy) and itsanSKS are all nearby.

Local ranges are at Myakka aka Manatee Gun Club and Hernando Gun Range.

Hello fellow Floridian Appleseeders !!

I just attended my first Appleseed in Pensacola this past weekend at the Escambia Muzzle Loaders range, and it was a lot of fun finally learning proper shooting skills  ;D

Currently, the only rifle I own is my remington bolt action 770 30-06, so I brought that thinking it would be great to learn with  ++)  I was deservedlyteased just a little bit, and was referred too as the "Buffalo Hunter"   :D  But thanks to kindness of the shoot boss, I was able to learn on an extra 22 rifle he had with him  O0

The local Spring Hill range here doesn't really lend itself to practicing the prone position, but I can't wait to try out what I learned !!  I may pick up a 22 rifle, but I sorta had my hopes set on a M1 Garand as my next rifle purchase  8)

Anywho, just wanted to introduce myself and say HEY  ^:)^

howdy Buffalo

(didn't want to call you by your initials)

a CMP Garand is a wonderful choice, also a bit pricey to feed while you are polishing up your techniques. if you build an LTR, you will save ammo money that can be used to purchase an M1 sooner. Assuming Orest and the boys don't run out before you order one  >:D >:D >:D

welcome to the forum and program!

Here Here!  Welcome to the forum, Buffalo Hunter!  I wasn't able to make it to the event in Pensacola this past weekend, but I have heard from many sources that it was a lot of fun.  There is an open thread in which you can relate your first Appleseed experience, found here: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=20586.0

Please, feel free to poke around a bit, join in the discussions, and if you are so inclined, volunteer to help out!  We've got a good crew of people around here, and would welcome any assistance you could provide.  PM me for details.

As always, if you have any questions, just ask!

Howdy from the East Coast of Florida, near Melbourne. I think I first heard about the Appleseed Project in a Mas Ayoob article in Backwoods Home magazine. Can't wait to gather up the young'uns and others in the clan and attend one of the weekends.

Sure am glad that there's a lot of folks that are thinking along the same lines about gun ownership and about this great nation of ours.

Greetings from Jax.  I'll be at St. Augustine December 8 and 9 and look forward to seeing what this is all about.

One question, around what time of day does it usually end?

Wow, I just noticed the previous post is a year old.  What's up with that???

Welcome Contra!

End times for Appleseeds vary, but we usually try to wind things down around 5pm on both days.  Sometimes sooner, sometimes later, depending on the students and their willingness to continue.

The crew that works the St. Augustine events is top shelf, so be ready to learn!

9mm4545 (Bruce) should have the 2013 schedule ready to go here pretty soon, and will surely post it up on the forum here.  You won't be able to sign up for an event until we get the EventBrite scheduling system ready, but you should at least know when the events are to take place within the next couple of weeks.

I'll poke Bruce with a stick tomorrow, and see what the story is with the Clermont events; he may already have the dates for 2013, just hasn't posted them yet...

The Appleseed poster from the Palm Bay shoot is now displayed at a store in Titusville!  It is a mil-surp store, Gear-Up, on SR 50.  They sell stuff to shooter types, and the poster is generating interest.

Have been talking up the shoot, especially over the weekend at the Melbourne gun show.  Several locals are now wanting to attend June AS at PMRPC, provided they can find more .22 LR ammo.   Have also been talking it up at PMRPC when I went out practicing with my new Tech-Sight on Saturday, and was getting it dialed in.  Sure beats the stock 10/22 carbine sights.  No problems removing old front sight.  Liquid Wrench and a brass punch made it easy.  My group sizes are much improved!  I shot a practice AQT, and saw my score go up considerably from my previous best at the AS shoot.  Plan to get more range time this weekend, practicing "400 yd" shots.  Will no doubt talk AS up more then!

Have also been talking AS up with my Titusville and Orlando buddies at work.  We should see an increase in attendance for June at PMRPC, barring a hurricane!

Hello fellas, I just shot my first appleseed today. What a blast it was. Thanks to the instructors who were out there today, I have never shot this style before and they were a great help! I shot 213 on my first AQT with my 10/22! I am hooked and look forward to doing it again soon.

Welcome Floridanative to the Appleseed Project. Glad you enjoyed our 'SEED at Myakka and your welcome on the line anytime.

The reason you nailed the AQT was your positive attitude and your ability to take in the information, turn it around and put it back on the paper.
Your right, the Appleseed team there this weekend at the Manatee Gun Club was top notch  ~~:), except for that tall ol' guy with the porn-star mustache.

Hello all!

I attended my third Appleseed this past weekend and the third time was the charm for me! PHenry is a wily one when he read the scores and I thought I hadn't made it. He said 209...so close! But then a bit later, informed me that I scored a 217!!!

Appleseed is a great organization, not only teaching safety and marksmanship, but history as well!

I look forward to many more Appleseed events!

Welcome aboard! Appleseed is a self-improvement program that uses rifle marksmanship. One of the most important lessons you will learn is persistence. Success as a marksman--and as an effective human being--will not come without it.

Hi, my name is Mark, I attended my first Appleseed in Hollywood, Florida this past weekend (Jan 10 & 11, 2015).  The experience was awesome and the training was outstanding!  The host range was awesome as well (Hollywood Rifle & Pistol); my first time there.

My only "issue" was Florida's unusually hot, humid Winter because I was drinking so much fluids and using the restroom so frequently that I missed some of the interesting lectures.  Our shoot boss, "Bruce" was outstanding, both in his classroom teaching and field advice.  I started shooting iron sights on the first day, but I couldn't see the bottom row of targets.  I mounted a scope for the second day and Bruce provided a lot of help in getting it sighted in.  My highest score for the weekend was 206.   We had outstanding instructors!  I recommended Appleseed to a number of friends.

Welcome to Appleseed, Mark!  At 206, you are right on the bubble!  You will undoubtedly score Rifleman soon!  Practice dry firing and getting into the positions.  It can easily boost your score by 20+ points!

Hey my name's Elliott out in California. I attended my first Apple Seed last weekend 1/10/15-1/11/15 out at sac valley. I shot two riflemen scores on Saturday 219/229 but I was only a cook on Sunday. It was great and I loved the format of history and marksmanship over the weekend. I'm looking forward to improving my skills and shooting a full distance Apple seed in the future.

Thanks folks and thanks Fred

Good morning,
As my first post i'll try and put a whole bunch of info in.
My name is Cameron I live in Eustis Florida, I'm hoping to attend an appleseed event with a group of family and friends sometime in the fall Probably October; that should give me enough time to get gear and ammo together for my cousin, Father, and friend. I'm very excited about this group because My father and I ( i don't think i'm the milkman's kid) are descendants of Israel Bissell https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Bissell , and my wife is the descendant of Abner Hosmer of the Acton Militia.  I'll try and direct my questions to the needed forums.

Hello Jeff,

It will be a great opportunity to meet many new shooting buddies at Palm Bay!  The December shoot is usually a very large turnout, as the heat of summer has faded!  We often have 3-5 shooters from your local area at every Palm Bay Appleseed!  See you there!

Did my first Appleseed this weekend and loved every minute! I'm glad I read "Paul Rever's Ride" before the event and want to start more reading about the war. Great bunch of people. I live in Homosassa so the range is only three miles from me and being retired I get there about every day. I didn't earn my patch (not even close) but I'll be back in October. My seventy year old body really feels it today and have no elbow skin left.

Happy New Year! Looking forward to attend my first Appleseed! Have found the Appleseed foldable flyer on the forum and will print it out on nice paper a couple hundred times and carry it out to mail boxes in my neighborhood and beyond so that I spread the word. There are so many who are like minded but have not yet heard about Appleseed... Time to spread the word! Running your printer and a couple hundred pages of paper are cheap enough, and a neighborhood walk is healthy too! Why don't you consider this as well? The lame stream media brain washes non stop and most realize it, but have not yet noticed that the silent majority exists.

Thank you Minutemom!

I'm sure looking forward to it! Read on the forum that some go multiple times, even if qualified, I like that idea! I look forward to getting to know the appleseeders and hope to learn how I could best volunteer.

For others who are also looking into more literature: please consider "Imprimis" from Hillsdale College. It's free. I however order 500 copies at a time and spread them out over my neighborhood like a mailman, it gets a counternarrative out there. There are countless of the silent majority who just haven't found us yet!

Greetings!

Yes, sir (ma'am?)!  I qualified at my second Appleseed and came back for 3 more.  I think you'll find that Appleseeders are some of the best people on the planet  :)

First Time Caller Here...I am currently attending the Florida Boot Camp and WOW!!!!  What a great group of instructors and fellow students!  I can't say enough about the instructors, both the men and especially the women.  They are sharing the marksmanship skills as well as blowing us all away with the passion they possess when discussing the events surrounding April 1775.

Just finished my second weekend of Appleseed in Hernando last month. I was privileged to attend with my son, FlaANG - major FA. Finally qualified! Now I am hooked. I'm totally committed to becoming a rifleman. I'm building a Ruger 10-22 tack driver for my third try in June. I'll be training this month as suggested. You guys are the best. You keep that amazing spirit and dedication alive that birthed this noble experiment in a government founded on the principle of personal liberty and limited government.

I just shot my second Appleseed this last weekend at ERGC north of Pensacola, it was my second Appleseed and my second Rifleman score, accepting my orange hat.  All the instructors told me I had to join the forum haha.  I really enjoy shooting and I really enjoy everything Appleseed teaches.  I really don't know how much I will be able to do with regards to helping out though, I have a busy schedule at times, but I'd really like to help out when I can.  For the ones who were there, I'm the guy with the "baby poop" camo 10/22.  One thing I'm sure of is that I'd really like to attend a KD, but I'm really not sure if I'll be able to make it to one.

Welcome JoelS! Having been involved with Appleseed since 2010, I can tell you that the program can change your life. In my case the change has been an entirely positive one. Congratulations on shooting a Rifleman score and taking an Orange hat. You will not believe the sense of accomplishment you will feel when you teach someone else what you know. In doing so, you will become a better shooter, a happy side-effect to be sure. I can highly recommend attending one of our KD weekends or, better yet, the Rifleman Boot Camp in Jan-Feb. next year. It does demand a degree of commitment but the rewards are immense. Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the Appleseed Instructor Corps, we are glad to have you with us.

In the Instructors Info section you will find a section marked TIPS. This location has the area for signing up to help at the shoots and the most current instruction information.

All of at Appleseed know well it a balancing operation to work     (shoots = vs = family, home, work)    the sacrifice for myself has been well worth the effort.  So any time you can spare helps the students and your fellow Instructors in the Mission.

When I first started with Appleseed I was operating out of California way back in 2012; then in 2014 life happened and I had to take a lengthy break from pretty much everything while my family moved around this great country (California to Kansas to South Carolina on the boarder of Georgia, to South Carolina interior to Florida). Finally in December 2015 we landed in Florida and now in January of 2018 I am finally back to where I feel at home shooting and storytelling with Appleseed.

This little rebel rouser is happy to have found a home in the fine state of Florida and looks forward to many more shoots with the Port Malabar Rifle Range. As my little miniature rebel rousers grow into their rifles they will be joining us too; and my husband also looks forward to coming out to more seeds (his job will just dictate which states he participates in).

Mamma Bear,

Was a pleasure to finally run across you on the Appleseed Trail!  I meant to say hello personally Saturday, but ended up scoring AQTs on Saturday when I dropped by after working the NRA Pistol Class on Saturday, and then HeidiHeidi was already into the benediction.  Thanks, too, for often sharing our FB posts on your FB pages from www.facebook.com/KentuckyRifleman ;  it is greatly appreciated.

Several of us locally, myself included, also often do Libertyseed presentations for homeschool groups, church groups, etc. We would be glad to help in any way we can!

Thanks always happy to help spread the word; as you know I do what I can. Life took me "officially" out of the homeschool loop but I still support homeschoolers any way I can; few ideas are batting around my head tonight regarding Liberty Seeds and Brevard County as I attempt to write lesson plans tonight for tomorrow. Hopefully over Spring Break (my next real work break) I can put some pen to paper and get something moving in charter school system out here in regards to a libery seed; almost had one last school year; but things happened. I am hoping maybe next school year my admins will be open to a liberty seed; as it is this year they let me bring a candidate for St. Gov. on to campus to discus the importance of a government that is controlled by the citizens and why the voting populace needs to stay away from career politicians.

Will look at my calendar tonight; might not be able to assist the whole weekend; but at least for some parts of it.

Also already planted an appleseed in the minds of my co-workers at work; need to start talking you or Malabar about putting together a Libertyseed focusing on the oral history and story telling of Revolution. Either Constitution day in September 2018 or the anniversary of the start of the revolution on April 19, 2019. Would like to get something put together before June to present to my administration. Sadly I know at this time we would not be able to do the marksman side of it; however we should be able to bring in some red coat targets and the shingle and maybe some rubber bands.

Just something I want to get going in the area.

Howdy all!

I attended my first Appleseed this past weekend (Jan 20-21) at PMRPC in Palm Bay. Had a great time! Grew up in a "guns kill people" kind of family, but have been a shooter since about 2008. Learned a LOT of history I didn't know, and also learned a number of marksmanship things as well. Had the pleasure of meeting B.C., TheMenace, Siggie, Jayhawk, HeidiHeidi, HeidiRose, and many others whose names I don't remember right now. Happy to report that I shot Rifleman five times! Thanks to all who helped!
Happy to be here, and looking forward to attending more events, and hopefully becoming instructor and helping to pass these things on to others.

Hello Patriots,

Just trying a third time to get re-engaged with the program. I use to be the Pennsylvania State Coordinator back in 2009 & 2010 but had to take leave for personal and professional reasons. I made a brief re-engagement in 2012 because I seemed to be in a better place again, but I was transfered from Pennsylvania to Florida by my employer in 2013 which thru a wrench into my 2012 comeback LOL. Now I've been settled in my new state for 5 years and hoping to lend a hand and pick up a bucket yet again. I hope Florida doesn't mind taking me in after my crazy life circumstances and issues staying engaged in Pennsylvania. I'll lend a had where I can to help.

I'm in the Clearwater area of Florida.

Thanks,

Thanks B.C.

I was not in the Instructor ranks at that time. Is that a requirement now for being a state coordinator or part of the state staff? PA was just getting up and running and I jumped in and volunteered before and after my first appleseed in Manheim PA. I helped get a lot of the PA sites approved and going, and helped with all the PR and recruitment. I will do the same here in Florida, and any other activities I can help with. I hope to eventually become an instructor in training once I attend my second Appleseed. My biggest distractions are my kids. They are in middle school and high school, so their sports and education activities take up my time more than back in 2008-2010. When needed I will step up and help of course, just say the word. My wife is fully supportive of the Appleseed program as well. I hope to have her and both of my kids attend an appleseed eventually. Chainsaw and others in PA will certainly remember me and my time in the program 10 years ago, so feel free to talk to tham if needed

Looking forward to being involved again.

Thanks,
Mooney

Henry,

I would love to, but I'm away all weekend at my daughters Lacrosse Tournement. Her season ends in another week, so the kids sports schedules slow down for the reast of the summer vacation. I'm happy to meet up with you or anyone on the FL team if anyone would like to get lunch or dinner or a beverage of choice anytime. I work from home and have lots of flexibility to travel while working during the week. Thanks for reaching out and letting me know about the events, next time for sure. Looks like Manatee, Hernando and Wyoming Antelope clubs all have Appleseed programs and are close to me. Let me know how I can help at those clubs for sure, and any others around the state if needed.

Thanks,

I've been shooting just about anything that would for 40+ years. Sybil started pistol 10+ years ago and rifle in ernest with her first Appleseed.

Both events were made great by the great group of instructors and helpers. Thanks and I'm sure we will see each other again.

Looks like I found the right group. The word Americans doesn't do justice to the instructors this weekend of Todd, Joe, Tom, Tom and I know Im missing one or two so I apologize. Its hell getting older like Tom you start to, ah crap forgot what I was going to say. Anyway, every single one of these Real Patriotic Americans was awesome. Its funny because throughout the weekend I kept thinking of 9/11 and how I felt. i wondered if that was the same feeling by brethern had in the beginning. There are not many times that such strong and emotional feelings are stirred. I would serve and stand beside each of these men if the need ever arose.

My son enjoyed it immensely, he loved the stories. We will be practicing what we learned and see you December in Eustis. Agin God Bless and thank you.

Hello to all y'all in Florida,

I'm Jax Bubis.  My husband and I have been Project Appleseeders for over ten years.  While we weren't instructors, we were helpers.  And after being introduced to April 19th, 1775, I became a storyteller.  I was the Colorado "director" (don't remember what we called it) for Liberty Seed.  At the time Liberty Seeds didn't do much.  But I never quit telling the stories.  I continue now in the panhandle of FL.  (Feel free to see my website:  Revive1775.com)  We moved here in May 2020.  Loving it here.

Don't know if there's much going on in FL with Liberty Seeds but I still see storytelling events as being something that many folks might be interested in.

Cheers, Jax

Welcome Xavier.

Those ranges that StoneKnives pointed out should have everything you are looking for. Florida has plenty of shoots each year. About the only thing we can't offer you is another shoot below freezing   :).

Look forward to seeing you on the line.

Steve

Went to my first Ladyseed event recently.  What an information packed weekend.  Hubby and I are going to attend Appleseed in early April in Homestead. Looking forward to it! :~ :1luvu

Thanks, I got my Winterseed patch so I think I'm all set on below freezing shoots!

Welcome back Daniel. You'll be right at home with the fine Appleseed folks in the Panhandle!

Hi, I'm Ben. I just finished a two day marksmanship training in Flagler. It was a fantastic experience. I'm looking forward to going to more of these and learning new skills.

About me: I'm a mid 30s nomad with a remote IT job exploring Florida to figure out where I'd like to set root (suggestions welcome)

Welcome and I am glad you enjoyed the shoot! I am a member at the Flagler Gun Club and if ever you want to join me for some trigger time there, just ask and I would be happy to have you as a guest.

Ben,
I really enjoyed working with you! So proud you also scored with your bolt gun on the last AQT.  ^:)^ As Bruce & I have family membership to Flagler, I echo Bruce's invitation. You're being so open to trying new shooting ideas/positions really was a major contributor to your huge progress over the weekend.
As to suggestions for roots in FL, what sorts of area do you prefer? City vs rural county? We personally live in Putnam County, a small very rural county on the St Johns River. Reach us via the private message system ("my messages" tab above) on this forum by our screen names.
