Kool Wink Motel.  A favorite among MVT students. 10 minutes from site.  Retro styling and very clean.  Prices 60-85$ depending on number of people.  Book early as it fills up around MVT training schedule.  http://www.koolwinkmotel.com/  (304) 822-3595.

South Branch Inn.  A newer Motel about 15 minutes from site.  Prices a little higher than Kool Wink but comes with continental b'fast starting at 0700.  http://wvafun.com/southbranchinn/  (304) 822-2444

GPS: ,

State Laws to be aware of:

West Virginia State gun laws at the NRA: nraila.org/gun-laws/state-gun-laws/west virginia.aspx

It is the responsibility of attendees to know and comply with all West Virginia and Federal Firearms Laws.

Misc:

It is possible to drive a car to the site, but low slung cars don't do well.  I tore the heat shield off my Honda.
Porta Jons and Well water available at site but it may be a couple hundred yards from the range.

Parking is limited and car pooling is encouraged.

Within a 10 minute drive in Romney there are fast food restaurants, convenience stores, dollar general and sit-down restaurants.

There are no covered areas there and only a few picnic tables.  You may want to bring a pop up and advise participants to bring chairs.

Arrival Procedure: Standard arrival time at the parking area is 0700hrs. Do not set off from the Start Point for the site itself before 0630hrs. In previous times the class would meet at the Start Point and drive in to the site in convoy. In a bid to reduce our signature for the residents on Mayhew Hollow Road, you should not head up from the Start Point before 0630 hrs (or 30 minutes prior to your designated report time at the parking lot).

Students are welcome to meet at the Start Point, or at the Koolwink, and drive in to the site together, departing the Start Point between 0630 and 0645 (or 30 - 15 minutes prior to the designated meet time at the parking lot).

If you arrive at the site parking area, in particular at odd or unexpected hours, do not attempt to go elsewhere on the property/ranges. Remain at the parking area until met/escorted, or by prior arrangement.

Lost Procedure: If you are unable to find the site parking area, return to the Start Point and attempt to communicate. Do not stop and ask at local houses.

Severe Weather Procedure: If it is unsafe or impassable, due to snow/ice, to travel from the Start Point to the site, then remain at the Start Point. You can either leave your vehicle there, and cross deck for a ride up to site, or wait from transport. In severe snow/ice arrival procedures will be amended to convoy the group up to site in suitable vehicles. Anticipate this.

Random / Early Arrivals: Pre-recce / advance of the Start Point is fine, to ensure you are clear on its location prior to the morning of the class. It is a public road. Do not pre-recce the drive from the Start Point up to the site parking area, unless by prior agreement. As instructed, drive up to the site parking area from the Start Point no earlier than 30 minutes prior to your designated report time.

KEEP SPEED DOWN WHEN DRIVING PAST HOUSES ON THE DIRT ROAD!

The site itself is private property with normal privacy concerns. We also have concerns to keep the neighbors onside, and reduce the amount of unnecessary traffic on the woods road up to the site, which is a local right of way for residents, not a public road. Persons are strongly discouraged from showing up at random unexpected times, or not in conjunction with a scheduled class on which they are booked.

If you move beyond the parking area, without specific instructions, after arrival, you could well be trespassing onto a live fire area and placing yourselves or others in danger.
Once you have reported for class as instructed, any additional concerns / needs or access requests can be communicated face to face.

For those camping, these rules will be relaxed once you are established at the camp site, and for coming in and out in the evenings after training.
Randomness is not encouraged!

NO Alcohol Permitted
