The Year of the Wind! (Chinese Calendar??)

The Laramie Rifleman's Boot Camp (RBC) was the highlight of the four events taking place this June at the Laramie Rifle Range (LRR). For the entire 10 day stretch, we ended up having 40-ish participants from 11 states (AK, AR, MT, OK, TX, MI, NE, CO, NM, MN. WY – yes Alaska!); many took part in multiple events.  None of this would have been possible without the continuing support of the Laramie Rifle Range, which has hosted this massive event for the last four years (and other Appleseed events for many years before that!). We are also indebted to the efforts of the local Appleseeders who made sure the event was properly setup and coordinated – thanks to Regular Guy and ALF!

The Wind. Wyoming certainly lived up to it's windy reputation for this event! The local forecast said "breezy" . . . and it blew every day. The weather meter showed the winds most days at 20 mph or higher and strongest gusts were over 50! Wind, grit and dust got into everything. Shooting from the standing position was particularly challenging. As the saying goes "A Rifleman Persists" and that's what we did.

It was a great event and thank you to everyone that came out also a big thank you to Laramie rifle range for hosting this great event.
It was great working with excellent instructors and phenomenal students and even though the weather definitely made things challenging at times everyone kept in good spirits.

Had a great time albeit the wind...meeting everyone and learning more about our Liberty past and present.

See you all next year ?

WOW! The program has made some nice changes but the core of instruction and methodology remains as solid as it was years ago. Some of the teaching aids have morphed, becoming more detailed and effective in communicating the points of instruction.

Captain was the SB. He presented with an easy going and relatable style that captured everyone's attention and created an environment where participatory learning was very effective. I was totally impressed with his management of the shoot. With safety being central, Rob is well versed in all aspects of instruction to the shooters and development of the assisting staff. His command of the curricula, his side knowledge of rifle/ ballistic theory, and commitment to the cause of Liberty and the program are effervescent. When combined, he delivers an exceptional program. I was surprised that he was not considered a Master Instructor as many of his talents exceed that of several MIs I have known over the years.

In fact, during a classroom segment discussing external ballistics, trajectory, MILs and MOAs, plus effects of wind, I have never met an individual who presented these potentially and often complicated topics with such clarity and relatable understanding. We had at least three trained engineers in the class that made some rather deep inquiries challenging Rob's understanding of the topic. Always, his response was not only accurate but on point, encouraging understanding by everyone in the class.

I would recommend this staff, the program, and this venue to anyone interested in an immersive week long training experience. Having been an attendee and presenter at several RBCs over the years I can say for the most part they all contain very similar information. Many times the content and delivery fluctuates to some degree. The program at Laramie '26 was spot on and served the purpose of stimulating an individual response to the call of liberty. Further, I believe that the week served to inspire some to get involve with the program at an instructional level. And finally, there were several Riflemen either proofed, distinguished, re-qualified and/or done at KD!

My only regret was not even coming close to meeting the expectations I set for myself. More work to do. Thanks to all for your encouragement and kind treatment.
