My 10/22 came with 1" sling swivels installed from the factory.  Obviously these are too small for a standard web sling.  During the first two appleseeds I went to, I made do with a beat up leather mauser sling.  It was better than nothing, but it wasn't very adjustable and was not capable of making a loop sling.

I was thinking about buying a new set of 1 1/4" swivels and screwing them into the stock, but then I had an idea.   I just had a new sling arrive for the M1 carbine I bought from the CMP.  Turns out it is a 1" sling and it's the perfect size for use on a 10/22.   All I had to do was take one of the buckles off of one of my regular web slings and put it on this new one.   I used the end of the sling with the snaps in place of the metal rear clip on the web sling.    Works great!

I bought a 10/22-T a month or so ago and I'm looking for a good M1907 sling to put on her. I already switched over to 1.250" sling swivels but now i need a sling to go with her.

Any suggestions? How long should I go or are all of the M1907 slings the same length?

If you want a good M1907 leather sling, look for Turner's or Brownell's or find one of the very light colored GI slings, they are STILL in the system and in use.  I would go for them in that order.

If you know anyone attending Camp Perry you MIGHT find some Turner seconds.  They are considerably more affordable and the blemishes are all cosmetic.

If not this, then check Brownells catalog or web site, they sell both theirs and Turner's or look at some of the better surplus sites for the GI version.

Try www.pacificcanvasandleather.com They have 1907 slings for $20.00 .I've bought 5 or 6 from them and they worked great. Sarco also has 1907 slings ww2 pattern for a good price. www.sarcoinc.com Both companies ship fast.

I made Rifleman with a mediocre Boyt's 1" 1907-style leather sling. It wasn't as nice as a good Turner sling; but it was adequate to the task. Cost too much money for the quality you got; but I had no idea when I bought it, way back when.

It's not worth more than about $20 at the most, IMHO.

The Turner Biothane slings would be nice for rainy days; since they don't degrade like leather does in the rain. I know a CMP High Master who shoots with one. They're spendy tho.

Well gentlemen, I ordered a Turner leather National Match sling. I was told that they are currently running a 3 week backlog on orders depending on what product they are producing.

I hope it is worth the wait.
