You can get Discounted Government Surplus Rifles and Ammo!

Have you heard of the Civilian Marksmanship Program or the CMP?

It's a program started by Teddy Roosevelt who thought it would be a good idea if U.S. citizens knew how to shoot properly and to make
surplus rifles and ammunition available to them for cheap.

To qualify for a purchase from the CMP, you have to be a citizen, have attended a
qualified rifle marksmanship course of 50 rounds or more and be a member of an affiliated club.

Attending an Appleseed Shoot covers the marksmanship portion of this requirement.  If you currently do not belong to a CMP approved club, for the small sum of $20 you can join the RWVA for a year and this will cover the club membership requirement.

Now you have met the CMP requirements allowing you to buy up 12 rifles a year from the CMP.
They sell M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, 22LR training rifles and the ammunition for all of these rifles.  The cost is about half of what you will see the same rifles, still in the CMP box it shipped in, at local gun shows.

Buying an M1 Garand direct from Uncle Sam's arsenals is buying a piece of history - a small part of American heritage - the rifle that won WW2.

Buying from CMP in itself is participating in history, as year after next, the CMP program will celebrate a century of service to Americans and marksmanship.

Here is a link directly the CMP web site which will give you the details of the program and the process needed to purchase rifles and ammo from the CMP.  thecmp.org
