You guys got anything scheduled at the FSW Gathering on the weekend of 20-21 June outside of Newcastle? Private Appleseed? Mini? Anything?

Trying to talk Dinky to head out there for the Gathering. Perhaps some others can lend their voice to pursuade her to come out.  ;)

Sorry to tell you Dinky's on 30-days sick leave, so not likely she can make it out - but we have enough WY people someone can show up if needed.

The WY SC is an FSW guy I believe - he's Colonial Shooter on this forum.

As an FSW forum admin, why not see if you can get some interest going for an AS event of some type at the FSW Gathering?

We don't have an official "Appleseed" planned as we will probably be lacking a Red Hat   Colonial will be at the shoot in Casper which takes place the same weekend as the FSW campout.   J_T, Beulah and I are planning on running AQTs and providing instruction for anyone that is interested.    I believe that the location we will be at does have at least a 500 yrd range, so shooting full distance is an option and would be of interest with this crowd... now if we could only get some dog targets on short notice...   Check the schedule that J_T posted on the FSW board in the camp out thread, I think he listed some times for AQTs.

If we do not have one this time, make sure we get one on the books for your next event. I would be glad to come out and do it but I have a shoot in Corpus that weekend. If I can be of any assistance in setting one up or working with you guys in the future to get an event set up, just yell. ;)

Don't let a lack of "D" targets hold you up: simply make a stencil and spray paint up some 4 MOA squares for each distance.

I guarantee you, when you tell your shooters Appleseed grads have the knowledge and skills to keep their shots on those squares out to 500 yards, they'll be impressed.

Say, I don't have to tell you what the sizes are for different distances, do I? >:D

I knew we were going to be doing plenty of shooting and that there would be Appleseed grads there and an IT or two but wasn't sure if there was anything formal on the planning board. I've got a small stack of AQTs, QD AQTs, and some Redcoats I can bring for the gathering. Not a lot, maybe a dozen or so of each.

I'm just the guy who keeps the lights on at the Forum. I also try to lend a hand whereever else I can. I think there was some talk over on the FSW board about it but didn't see anything concrete. Guess I'll have to check the schedule over there again. And, I knew we had a few people that were active in both groups so figured I'd check here first. The FSW folks can be worse than herding cats when it comes to getting something organized.  ;D

30 days sick leave?!?! Crap. Hope she's feeling better soon. At the Athens Appleseed she mentioned she would be unavailable for a few weeks afterwords but thought she might be back in the action in time for the gathering. She sounded like she really would enjoy making it out there if schedule permitted.

Shucks, let's not be modest, here. You are what you make yourself be - so let's make it happen.

QuoteI think there was some talk over on the FSW board about it but didn't see anything concrete.

What, these FSWers can't seem to "do" anything? Can talk, but can't make things happen?

       Shame!

Let's have a more positive attitude about them, and let's challenge them to get off their duffs and get something going... (I'm not even gonna mention that "cat" comment. >:D)

4 minute of angle at 500 yards would be 20 inches. Plenty big enough to be hit with irons at 500 yards. :D

I'm fairly well stocked with targets: roughly 200 Q&DAQTs and 100 Redcoats.   I'll also print up some sighter squares.

I'm going to work on making a stencil to make up some full size D targets - just need to bring cardboard/paper/wood

J_T and I will be there. Ready to help out on the line. Business permitting I will be there on Thursday.

Just a quick thanks to Jared, The Count, and the others on the line instructing at the FSW gathering. Oldest daughter and my son were one the line Friday and Sunday. Sometimes getting some instruction from an impartial stranger gets through better than listening to Dad. ;) Finally had to drag Joey off the line on Sunday so we could get on the road. With a bit more practice this summer he's hoping to get to an Appleseed this fall or early next spring.

Thanks again.
