Lapeer, MI AAR - July 25-26, 2026

We had an excellent group of Americans (and one excellent Canadian!) on the range with us at Lapeer County Sportsmen's Club last weekend. Nine out of our twelve participants were attending Project Appleseed for the first time, and it was an honor engaging with all of them.

Congratulations to our newest Riflemen: Marco and Alex A!

Marco - I'm glad that George convinced you to come out for this event, and I'm relieved you were able to top that narrow 208 on your previous AQT - that was a close one! You removed any doubt.

Alex showed amazing progression over the weekend - after an initial qualifying score of 210 earned him a dunk in the waters of the North Bridge, he topped that by hitting a distinguished score of 233 with his iron sights! That's impressive marksmanship from a first-time attendee. We are glad that you and Ben could join us, and I will reach out via email to discuss coordinating an event for your troop.

Congratulations also to our returning Riflemen toejam and icecoldkidd, who both requalified with distinguished scores. Always great to have you with us, gentlemen - and I think I speak for the entire team when I say we would love to see both of you in an orange hat someday I'm available to chat and answer any questions you might have about getting involved with instructing. 

On Sunday afternoon we were fortunate to grab a brief opening on the neighboring rifle range to practice some basic KD techniques at 100 yards. Instructors and shooters were well organized splitting into two groups so we could make the most of both ranges, and I believe every shooter was able to successfully ring some steel out there. Thank you to the good folks at LCSC for accommodating us.

Alex B and Alec (Team Ambassador Bridge) ran away with the surprise victory on the Parkers Revenge shoot. Despite somehow only sending 17 rounds downrange, they absolutely decimated all of the high-value targets. Well played, guys.

Lindy and Russ - it was great hanging out with you both, and I assume this won't be the last Appleseed for either of you (October perhaps?). I hope I'm there when you earn those Rifleman patches.

I'd also like to acknowledge our three youth shooters - Ben, Lucas and John. It was a pleasure having you on the range with us for the weekend - we were all impressed by your attentiveness and your commitment to safety. Each of you earned those William Diamond patches, and I hope Rifleman patches are in your near future. Although the road may seem long to you, it's well worth the journey - a Rifleman Persists!

Thank you very much to everyone who stuck around to help us tear down, clean up, and reassemble the range for LCSC. Many hands made light work, and we really appreciate you chipping in like that.

Last but not least, thank you to our incredible team of instructors - Hardcase, Rangerat67, Pocket Watch, Pookie and MrSurplus - you guys were great to work with!
