So I was registering to shoot a state CMP rimfire sporter match and when rifle was weighed it was over 7.5 lbs limit. So, off came the scope caps, a small rail, a MLOK attachment and still weighed out at 7.63.  :wb:

The only thing I can do is dump the sigsauer scope mount cantilever which is 5.9 oz/1.57 height and look for some rings 4 oz and under with same hgt for the sig 1x6 scope. Ive been searching and can't seem to find and exact fit that is affordable.
Any ideas for shaving wgt. or suggestions for  scope rings ?

That 1-6 riflescope probably weighs more than a pound - replace it with a Primary Arms SLx 3x Microprism, which weighs half a pound.

Will the mount release with the scope attached and then re-attach with same zero? A plus if so, but either way, if your eyes are young enough and/or good enough, swap to a light dot or a BUIS set and it will make weight. Or a more complex solution, possibly, which handguard do you have? I don't know what they weigh but the short composite may weigh less than the longer metal. Good luck sorting it. Let us know how you solve it and what you did.

Yes, the 9" poly handguard is almost half a pound lighter than the 12" aluminum.

So, you need to shave 0.13 #, which is 2.1 ounces.

Do your CMP rules allow you to change the buttstock or the pistol grip?

If so, the DFCO Kung Fu grip only weighs 2 ounces, if I recall correctly. It was the lightest grip I could find when I bought one a few months ago. I just weighed the original grip from my M4 and it is 2.31 ounces. Probably not much help there...

The OEM buttstock is 6.24 ounces. You might be able to find something a little lighter, maybe. If you're allowed to change it.

Also, the Vortex Crossfire HD 2-7x32 is more than 2 ounces lighter than your Sig scope. Of course, there may be other scopes that are lighter as well. That's just the first one I found that would solve your problem.

Tippmann has some 'magna-lite' barrels. Some as light as 7.5 to 8.5 ounces. I have no idea what the standard barrel weights though.

So I found some scope rings (Vortex) for my scope that weighed out at 3.4 oz and got me at (I think) right weight. It was a search for the correct weight, correct size and height combined.
