So if you have the G44, P322, PPQ and TX22 would you choose one of those for the pistol clinic? Or is the MK IV, Buckmark or SW22 enough better it's a good reason to add one to the group?

Ok, with no supervision going on, I've ordered a 40107 Ruger 22/45 and 4 extra magazines. So I'll have the 22/45 and 6 magazines total. That should do well if/when I can get to a pistolseed.

Not Sure

I have the same model MKIV.  It's definitely sufficient to earn a Pistoleer patch.  I installed a Volquartsen Competition Kit and a Tandemkross hive grip just because I like taking things apart a hopefully putting them back together without extra parts at the end.

Enjoy your addition to the family!

I love the Volquartsen competition kit, although I always need three or four tries to get the installation right. I like the Mark IV so much that I've bought three of them so far.

I've got that kit in my Midway wish list, and a few other bits, their extended mag and bolt releases also. And the TK Pic rail for if I decide to go nuts and get my first red dot. May (probably will?) figure out another thing or three I want to do with it too. Noooo, this thing isn't a rabbit hole. ::) #)

I leave my pistols stock.

The Buckmark has held up the best for me. They'll put 500 rounds down range in a weekend with no problem.

The S&W 22's like to be cleaned at about the 200 round mark. They are even worse in cold weather.

That is good to know. I don't need to add cleaning mid-event to my list. I ordered a MK IV 22/45 that should arrive in 3-4 days. That doesn't mean I won't also get a Buckmark between now and September though. :)

My wife's S&W Victory has easily gone over 500 rounds between cleaning, other than knocking the carbon booger off of the bolt face.
The only issue we've run into with it is the takedown screw loosening up.

The Victory is a pretty good choice for the PQT.

The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.

+1 for the Victory.
My wife has one and she loves it. Swap out the mag disconnect and it has been a very good Pistol.

So what is Project Appleseed Business?  What would the Ghost of Project Appleseed say to us?

"Business!'" cried the Ghost of Project Appleseed, wringing its hands again.  "Liberty was my business; Heritage, History, Freedom, and Pursuit of Happiness, were, all, my business. The deals of Marksmanship were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!"

Well, for better or for worse, my clinic pistol, for my first clinic, will be the MK IV 22/45 with 6 magazines total. If it is as much fun as I anticipate, and if I don't melt to a puddle in Texas September heat, I'll decide on a pistol for a future, hopefully more temperate month, clinic.

I know I'm late to the party on a number of threads LDB! I'm glad to see you are getting lots of good advice over here! The 22/45 will be awesome! Feel like the Buckmarks, Victory's, High Standards, MK's, etc all have pretty reliable actions with that smaller rear slide/bolt. They all tend to run well and have good accuracy. It's like anything else, find reliable ammo that shoots well in your pistol. Practice some so you are familiar with the pistol (mag changes, single hand left and right shooting) and you'll be great. Red dots are fine but at 7 yards probably aren't a deal breaker either. You've got this!
