Ramseur, NC KD AAR - Nov. 15-16, 2025

What a weekend! Hats off to our NC crew - R-Mack, Proud Patriot, Bulldog14, and Recon82 (and Karen).  They came in early to set up and stayed late, making sure the range was left better than we found it.  The range is looking better and better.  During the weekend, Hawkeye got us tapped into the 21st century with Starlink!  THANK YOU!!!  Special thanks to R-Mack for agreeing to close everything up after the shoot.  Maximum Ordinate and I were able to jet back to TN and me on to GA in time for me to puppy sit. 

I hope everyone had as much fun and learned as much as I did at our KD on our Ramseur home range.  Maximum Ordinate continues to set the standard in teaching.  He led 14 shooters through much of the instruction with EIGHT earning their KD rockers!  6 of those had never attended a known distance event before - Huzzah!!!  The shooters were great to work with and all could shoot so well.  Many missed their rocker by just a point or two.  I hope to see you all at another Appleseed event soon.  Ray - I'll try to visit a range by you up in Alaska some day - I hope everyone got home okay near and far.

This is a horrible picture, but the only one I have of Proud Patriot getting an Appleseed coin for her ongoing hard work cleaning up the Ramseur range.


A previous Appleseed volunteer drove all the way from eastern NC to give us a donation he won for Appleseed.  Thank you!!!

Derry's family came over to celebrate his birthday with all of us.  Evan explained that they'd swiped his grandmother's lemon cake recipe and Katherine and Kate both took a try at it.  I'm not the only one that said it's the best lemon cake we've ever had.  Happy birthday, Derry!!!

Tyler knocked his first KD AQT out of the park!!!  He scored a 49 Saturday afternoon, earning him both the Distinguished Rifleman Patch and his KD rocker.

It was a great event, I learned a lot!  I can't wait for the next one so I can redeem myself and get higher scores!  Time for even more dry fire!

It was a great KD weekend. I had the privilege of being both an instructor and a shooter. Listening to R-mack, upacreek, and Maximum Ordinate tells me that I have a lot to learn, but I will get there. We had great weather, and an even greater group of shooters. Thanks to my family for the "surprise" birthday party. Rusty said that turning 65 officially makes me a "Dangerous Old Man" Looking forward to the next Appleseed event.
