Special thanks to the Tulpehocken Rifle and Pistol Club for hosting us yet again.  They donated their entire 100 yard rifle range to us for the weekend, and were very helpful in all aspects of getting ready for an Appleseed Rifle Clinic.  We will certainly be back there again next year, and two events for 2026 are already on the calendar – April 18-19 and again in September 2026.

The weather was great both days, sunny and seasonally warm, and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend of marksmanship and heritage!  The shooters all persevered through the firehose of instruction and greatly improved as the weekend progressed.  We worked through the day proceeding from demonstration to dry fire practice to live fire confirmation of our marksmanship instruction, combined with history and heritage.  A few equipment fitting issues were quickly corrected, and all were resolved effectively.  Everyone was very receptive to the course of instruction.

Everyone returned to join us on Sunday, as we worked through more drills and AQT's, and all showed great improvement as the day progressed. By Sunday afternoon everyone had the process down pretty well and we proceeded at a good pace. The Time Monkey stayed off our backs, and many AQT's (including a Rapid Fire AQT) were shot.

The shooters showed those pesky Redcoats the strength of our cause on both the AQT and Hits Count Targets, and we have three new Rifleman to add to our cadre, Kayleigh, Austin and Sumner, who made an exact 210 on the last AQT of the weekend – Huzza!  We also had one who requalified, Aaron, with iron sights. And four shooters cleared the Hits Count Target – Sumner, Wyatt, Bill, and Kayleigh - and several got very close, just missing the shingle.  Huzza!

Thanks to all the shooters and the Tulpehocken Rifle and Pistol Club for a great weekend.

I would like the thank the Appleseed team for a great weekend.  Two first time Appleseed attendees, Austin and Wyatt, have already signed up for the April 18-19, 2026 event.  Their dads were impressed with the safety, history, and instructions which reflects on how Appleseed runs their events.
Thanks again.

"Yankee Peas" (British army term) - Buckshot. American troops, particularly militia, sometimes loaded their muskets with a few buckshot as well as a standard musket ball to inflict more casualties at close range.
