Well as will come to no surprise to anyone, August in Texas is hot, and this one day event proved to be no exception.  A few intrepid souls braved the heat to learn about the history of the founding of our great nation.  Two new comers, and a returning student, two of our orange hats, Little Ray of Sunshine and LittleMissE also took opportunity to test out new rifles.

For everyone that has been to one day event knows, there's a lot of instruction and history that are condensed into that single day, and this event proved no different.  To compound the haste, we had some issues with optics which resulted in one of the students leaving early.  The first hits count reflected issues with the classes zeroes, but in short order after some instruction, everyone got their rifles dialed in.

Thanks again to AF5US for helping with history and points of instruction, also lightening the tone with some humor.

Because of the small group size, we were able to move fairly quickly, and the students were interested in some additional practice in the sitting and standing positions.  Once that was completed, we were able to move into shooting for score.  Our returning student and an orange hat were able to fire qualifying scores.  There was time enough to squeeze in a second AQT, and all of the students scores improved.  The hits count target showed marked improvement from the morning, with one participants clearing the target.

Many thanks to students and instructor group for making this event a success.

Congrats to those brave souls who showed up in the heat and shot well!
It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan
