We had a small but enthusiastic group of patriots this past weekend. They could be called summer soldiers because it was hot and humid.

Saturday saw 5 shooters on the line, 3 of whom were returnees. After the usual drills we got in 2 AQT's and produced 2 riflemen- young Austin with a 210 and Steve with a 218. Interestingly both guys were using loaner rifles.

Sunday dawned suffocatingly hot. We were down to 3 shooters and managed to get through the day 2 course of fire and even take care of some frustrating equipment issues experienced by one shooter.  We managed 3 AQT's and Gary turned in a solid 218 on number 2 then took a break. We shot 1 more AQT then called it a day after our final redcoat around 3 pm.

Shooters and instructors all earned a Caliente Seed patch, for 2 days of well over 100f heat index. These were the first Calientes presented since we got them 2 years ago.

Special thanks to Benchrest Rifle Club for their generosity and , of course, thank you to the shooters and instructors for the great weekend we shared!

As to my brain fart Sunday the name I was looking for is Mary Katherine Goddard. 57 th signer of...

It was great spending some time at the event.  This was my first MO event. <add another state to the list>  Below are a couple of pictures I got from Saturday.  Austin and Steve did great on borrowed equipment.  With the 210 score, Austin also got baptized in water from the North Bridge.

Our cause is just . . . our country will be grateful - George Rogers Clark

"This country has been made by the Timothy Murphys, the men in the ranks. Conditions here called for qualities of heart and hand that Tim Murphy had in abundance. Our histories should tell us more about the men in the ranks, for it was to them, more than to the generals that we were indebted for our military victories." -  Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as New York Governor, 1929, at the dedication of the memorial to Murphy

With Steve, give a Marine an AR (even a Tippmann) and he'll show you a riflemen...

It was hot, but 3/5 scored Riflemen and frankly I think we have one more that is on the cusp if he'd choose a more reliable rifle.
