At Project Appleseed events, we recognize that our mission would be impossible without the ranges and organizations who host our events.  But this weekend we were privileged to have a great partner really show their support for Project Appleseed.

The original host range in Muskego realized, about dinner time the preceding Sunday, that there was a major scheduling conflict with an event that would need the entire range for the full weekend.  And so, despite being previously approved, there was no way they could host an Appleseed.

In the matter of a few hours, Racine County Line Rifle Club stepped up and was able to host the event.  RCLRC has been hosting Appleseed events for years, but to be able to say, "Sure, you can have an event take over a range this coming weekend" - in the space of just a few hours, no less - is a rare thing.  Good partners make Appleseed possible, but great ones make it easy.  Thanks, Racine County Line - we couldn't have done it without you.

To the attendees, it's a testament to the phrase we use at Appleseed that "A Rifleman Pistoleer™ Persists", that we didn't lose a single student to a venue change more than 20 miles away from the scheduled location. Thank you all for the flexibility and dedication!

And what a day to dedicate to an Appleseed.  This is what a Wisconsin spring is supposed to look like.  Warm, sunny, a gentle lake breeze - a perfect day for anything you could want to do outside.  And we 11 patriots came together to build our skills as Pistoleer™s and as Americans.

We started out the day with the First Strike and engaged the morning Hits Count target.  There was some promise showing, but as a group, we could use some work.  And so we dug in and started to learn.

An engaged and enthusiastic group asked questions, worked on fundamentals, and learned more about the people who bequeathed us the ability to gather and practice skill at arms.  And we grew in both ways.

In a tight contest, Mike won the Big Dot/Little Dot competition by the smallest of margins.  And with a carry-sized .45 no less!  Maybe the bigger holes do matter after all!  Will the future have Pistol clinics getting a .45 caliber rule to match Rifle clinics' .30 caliber rule?  There's a historical equivalence there...   O0

By the end of the day, we had a new Pistoleer™ in Denny, scoring a high mark of 243!  Outstanding!

On the final Hits Count target, we had one person clear it, and we at least doubled the tally at each effective range.  Group improvement is always the goal, and we definitely made the mark!

With dry fire practice, I hope we see more Pistoleer™s in the near future.  And Denny, 250 is tantalizingly close.....we'll keep that "250" patch ready for you!
If I knew the world was ending today, I would still plant another Appleseedling.

I'm glad to have been a part and I hope I've helped.

Always good working with you, JoeZ.  And thanks for the help, Potato_Hole!  Being able to trust some of the event duties to a capable and cheery volunteer is maybe more help than you realize.
