Last weekend, 12 of the Northwest's most persistent patriots gathered at the Shoshone County Public Shooting Range in Kellogg, Idaho.  Some were already Riflemen, and others were still early on their path to becoming Riflemen.  All got to hear the history of April 19th, 1775.

On Saturday we were blessed with warm temperatures and clear skies.  We started out by having our shooters engage a Hits Count target, and we quickly found that most our shooters were already effective out to 100 yards - but we expect far more from Americans!  We began instructing our shooters in the fundamentals:  The Steady Hold Factors for positional shooting, the 6 Steps to Firing the Shot, and Natural Point of Aim.

With this small but determined group we were able to finish an AQT by Saturday, and Matt proved he still knows what he is about with a 213 on the first AQT of the weekend.  Matt would go on to post higher and higher scores throughout the weekend, with a top score of 236!  Saturday ended with another Hits Count target, and it's clear everyone was applying what we were teaching them.  Scores were climbing, but we knew we could expect more.

Sunday, the weather turned.  We had to deal with rain, hail, high winds, and moving targets!  Our shooters were not deterred, and in fact we were joined by a shooter from Washington state who happened to be at the range for the weekend.  A little weather doesn't shake the persistence of Riflemen...

Our Sunday AQTS netted us lots of Rifleman scores!  I am pleased to announce that we have 2 brand new Riflemen!  Chuck scored exactly 210 on an AQT, earning not only a Rifleman patch but also a ceremonial baptism in the COLD waters of the North Bridge.  Keith scored a 213 on his first ever AQT, an impressive feat given that he 1) had not planned to be at our event, and 2) was using a borrowed rifle.  Keith would go on to post a 237 later this weekend - nearly a Distinguished score!

Many of our shooters were repeat Riflemen.  Dane scored a 233, nearly earning a Distinguished Patch.  Tom proved that he still very much knows what he is about and posted a 240, earning himself another Distinguished Patch.

Our youth shooters especially impressed the instructor corps volunteering at this event.  Rori scored a 172 from the prone position, showing that she means business when she gets behind a rifle!  Matthias started out the weekend shooting from a rest, and by the final AQT he was engaging every target from the prescribed position using nothing but his sling for support.  Matthias's high score was a 130.  These are both very impressive scores for shooters this young, and we were very pleased to spend a weekend with young Americans working on improving themselves!

One highlight of the weekend was our Parker's Revenge target - "The Scrolls" engaged a retreating Regular column and managed to score 46 points on that target - scoring 3 hits on Colonel Smith!

We closed out our weekend with a Hits Count target, and here your Shoot Boss has to brag a little.  We had 8 shooters engage this target at the end of the weekend, and 7 of them hit Morgan's Shingle!  That is the highest percentage of Shingle Hits I think I have seen at an event, and it's a very good sign that so many of you were able to make that shot at the end of the weekend.  Please come out to a KD event and prove to us you can do it with a cold bore shot!

A huge thank you to the Shoshone County Public Shooting Range for hosting our event last weekend.  A volunteer-run and donation-funded range offering their range time to our all-volunteer program is a great match.  Shooters, please consider looking at the other courses you can find at the Shoshone County Public Shooting Range, and consider them the next time you're looking to make a donation.

Finally, a sincere thanks to the Instructor Corps.  Ambi, LittleTom, SnowSnake, baldsincebirth, and eert:  It was a privilege to get to work with Idaho's finest.  Thank you for all the work you do to make Americans passionate about Liberty (oh, and thanks for making them better at shooting, too)!

And now:  Pictures!
