Prescott

This was my last Appleseed event for 2024 and it was a pleasure to spend it at Douglas Ridge Rifle Club in Eagle Creek, OR.  It was a typical November weekend in the Pacific NW a bit raining and windy, but otherwise it was a nice weekend.

In total, 19 Patriot American chose to spend their weekend learning about the Heritage of their country.  They came to either learn or fine tune their marksmanship skills and got a dose of American History as well.  It was great watching the shooters absorb the marksmanship techniques and apply those skills.  For most, the shot groups continued to shrink throughout the weekend and once they mastered NPOA shifts between targets, the magic began to happen.

In total, 6 Riflemen earned their first patch at this event and 3 shooters re-qualified as Riflemen.  Congratulations to Tom, Mike, Cameron, Reid, Derek and Annie for scoring Rifleman!  This was a great showing of persistence and applying the skills learned at the event.   Mike, Reid, Derek and Annie had been to a previous Appleseed event and came back to this event to earn their patch.  Tom and Cameron were able to earn their patch at their first event by applying the techniques that were taught.  Ryan, Dimitri and Zach were able to re-qualify their Rifleman scores.  Ryan was able to re-qualify in shooting a Distinguished score and earned the high score for the weekend. Huzzah, Huzzah, Huzzah!!!

For those that did not earn their Rifleman patch, continue to perfect the dry practice skills learned over the weekend.  A laser pointer like the one attached to the demo rifle will help reinforce the skills.   You can watch the laser while learning to completely relax into the Steady Hold Factors for prone and sitting.  You can watch the effect on the beam during a dry practice trigger squeeze and follow through.  Keep practicing and then come back to another event and show off your skills.

I neglected to promote the February event in Boise next year.  Appleseed has a special Winterseed patch that must be earn while shooting in the conditions the the Continental Army endured at Valley Forge.   Watch the forecast and if the weather is awful, come to Boise and earn that coveted Winterseed patch.

I look forward to seeing everyone again on the Appleseed trail.  Happy Holidays.
