We had an outstanding 25m event at Memphis Sport Shooting Assoc. As always the club took care of us. We really appreciate it and the club is a really nice venue. Fifteen eager shooters showed up on a rainy morning to hear about the events of April 19th, 1775 and reconnect with their heritage of marksmanship. The IDPA crew was kind enough to let us use their building for registration and and the First Strike. By then the rain was gone and we headed to the range. The initial Redcoat showed us there was work to do. We had a mix of first timers and Appleseed vets. We jumped into the course of fire with a very attentive and safe group. We didn't have any Rifleman on the Saturday AQT but saw marked improvement between the morning and afternoon Redcoat. We adjourned for the day with high spirits and the promise of good weather on Saturday.

Everyone returned Saturday and we got right into it after a morning review and a couple squares and drills to make sure no gremlins had snuck into anyone's rifle during the night. The persistance paid off has we had several new Riflemen and some requals. We also had a visit from a really big copperhead but we ran him off.

This was great event and we expect to see some of these folks again in September. Thanks to all the Instructors who did a fantastic job.

Our Instructors did their usual professional job on the firing line both days.  The freshman shooters really improved throughout the two days of instruction and left there better marksmen.  I hope we see them again in September at MSSA for a second dose and an opportunity for that coveted RIFLEMAN patch.  Our top two shooters "Tiger Driver" Badger and "Iron Mike" Cross shot scores of 247 and 239, respectfully.  Those guys are tough hombres.

Really glad to see some youthful shooters on the line. They learn very quickly and we really need more of them participating in Project Appleseed.  You adults shooters should consider bringing your sons, nephews, grandsons, daughters, nieces and granddaughters to a rifle clinic.  America has always been a country of Riflemen and we need to promote that amongst our you.

Our instructors did a great job promoting the history of April 19, 1775 and the events that took place at Lexington and Concord.  It's always fascinating to hear about the brave patriots that founded this country.  These Minutemen and Colonials took on the largest army in the world at that time, all in the name of Liberty and won!

I was glad to be a part of this shoot.  I enjoyed seeing the new shooters and even some of the old ones (you know who I'm talking about)!  Thanks to Rustygun  for setting it up.  All of the shooters made great progress.  Special shout out to my Padawan, 901gun on her red hat!

It was a great weekend at MSSA(even with the rain). The shooters were eager to listen and implement our instruction. I enjoyed working with these instructors as they showcased their dedication and expertise in helping shooters improve their skills as well as helping me be a better instructor. I will look forward to the next MSSA shoot and hope to see many of these shooters again.

Benjamin Franklin, 1775
