Greater Pittsburgh Gun Club is a new host for Project Appleseed and the inaugural event was a great success.  Many thanks to GPGC for reserving their Rifle range for us for the weekend!  The weather was hot and sunny, and the roof for the shooting benches provided much-needed shade for our students and instructor cadre.

All the students arrived promptly on Saturday morning, so we got off to an early start while the temperatures were still relatively cool.  We worked through the day alternating between dry practice and live fire work on the firing line and marksmanship instruction and heritage sharing in the shade.  By the end of the day we were ready to begin testing marksmanship skills with the Appleseed Qualification Test the following morning.

Sunday was slightly cooler, but still very warm and sunny.  We alternated between the firing line and the shade, covering the remaining Points of Instruction between AQTs.  At the end of the day Eric had high score for the weekend with a 195.  All of the students showed improvement in their marksmanship skills.  We're looking forward to more great events at this range in the future!

Special thanks to the Greater Pittsburgh Gun Club (GPGC) for hosting their first Project Appleseed event.  They donated their entire rifle range to us for the weekend, and were very helpful in all aspects of setting up for the weekend.  Sara and Bill could not have been more gracious and we hope to have many more events at this wonderful club.

Thanks to everyone for being so receptive to the course of instruction and our history and heritage.  Your questions and interest made our jobs much easier and more fun.  And yes, all 3 Strikes happened in one (long) day!  (On a side note, the friendly family competition on Sunday was won by the blue shirts!)  The shooters showed those pesky Redcoats the strength of our cause, especially on the last AQT and Hits Count Target.  Thanks again for a great weekend.
