Wow!  What a great weekend for liberty!!!!  We had excellent weather and the students brought the most important thing to the event...a teachable attitude.  Everyone listened to instruction well and were really attentive during the excellent history blocks (thanks fellow instructors).  Considering how many new shooters we had, I was impressed with the results of the Hits Count Targets on the first day (1 cleared target...Don and 2 shingle shots on Saturday morning, 2 cleared targets...Don and Kendall and 4 shingle shots Saturday evening).  Additionally, we had 1 "400 yard shooter" that morning and 4 "400 yard shooters" that evening. "Carding the Sights" was probably the most "eye-opening" drill. Some students found out that they were previously fooling themselves regarding their NPOA.  It was an "AHA moment" for many.  I was really happy at the end of the first day. Everyone seemed to have improved.

The shooters must have practiced overnight, because we had 7 shingle shots on the first red coat Sunday morning (same number of 400 yard shooters and cleared targets).

The best drill we did on Sunday was "Ball and Dummy".  Some students found out that they were blinking and anticipating the shot.  I think this helped quite a bit (check the AQT results below).

After teaching the KD block, we took the students out to 100 yards.  There was a little wind, so we were able to show the results of that, plus bullet drop from 22lr. and bullet rise from .223.  The results were as expected.

By the end of the clinic, we shot 6 AQTs that yeilded 6 Riflemen and 1 Riflewoman.  Huzzah

Aynsley 219 (New Riflewoman)
Don 249!!!! Distinguished HUZZAH!!!  So close.  You'll get 250 next time!
Bren 226, 219, 240 (New Rifleman) Distinguished Huzzah!!!!
Brian 216 (First event, New Rifleman, bone stock Ruger 10/22 )
Donald 210 (New Rifleman, centerfire with a red dot, baptized with GENUINE water from the North Bridge)
John 212 (New Rifleman)
Steve 245, 245, 245 Distinguished HUZZAH!!!!  (He probably would have gotten a 250 on one of them, but had a misfire on Stage 2...losing 5 points because he only had 9 shots).

Congratulations to instructor Anthonyb for earning his 10 shoot pin.

Thanks for everyone who came out (including the two observers)!

I look forward to seeing all of you at future events.

Here are some pictures from the event:

I agree with TN Beast. The improvement of the shooters was impressive. They all paid close attention and we're quickly diagnosing and correcting themselves. It was fun to work with the families and see generational influence.

The instructor team was a delight to work with.
The venue is wonderful and I encourage all to come to the Appleseed shoots at Manchester.
